Was reading on facebook that Jayson Shaw broke the 14.1 Tourney record with a 227.

Not because of this, but possibly aided by a couple of unlucky results in the rotation events at DCC, he says he will sell his diamond table, buy a Chinese 8-ball table and focus on that game.

I don't blame him.

Careful what you wish for.....:)

In pool there is no such thing as low hanging fruit.

The Chinese and Taiwanese players are the best in the World !!!!!

Is Jayson going to sell his Chinese table too, when he doesn't place?

Sorry to say this, but that kid got more talent than any of the top American players. That being said, he can learn any game he wants and if there is more money in Chinese 8-ball, then good luck to him! He most likely will do well!

But then again, he's probably extremely frustrated. So when he wakes up tomorrow everything will be just fine:)

true about frustration. might be best not to post anything when you are upset.

Very true! Especially when you're a cocky pool player who knows you can make any shot from anywhere at anytime! (Well, almost anytime) ;)

I met jayson and he's an outstanding person. But like all us humans, sometimes we need to control our emotions. He will learn!

He doesn't play any better than hundreds, if not thousands of players that have come before him.

The game won't be damaged by his departure, at least not in any fashion that will even compare to what he will lose out on. So he's mad at pool today? Whoop-de-doo.

Given his background in English 8-ball he could potentially do quite well over there with some months of serious practice to get an idea how those tables play with the larger balls. Many good English 8-ball players do fairly well over there, and Shaw would likely be another threat to throw into the mix.

Truth be told, pool itself was a step out from what Shaw came from. I am sure he had a similar "see ya later, I am going to America to play pool" exodus when he came over. He has had some successes, some failures, and now he has decided to move on to another game that is actually far closer to the original game he first became a champion in.

He may also see the writing on the wall, American pool still seems to be going nowhere and is spinning it's wheels, and even slipping back abit. Chinese 8-ball is new, it is getting more events, there is more and more money added to it each year. ATM it is a game on the rise. Will it continue to grow in popularity and money? Who knows, maybe, maybe not, but atm it seems like a game with potential, and Shaw likely does not see much potential in American pool moving forward into the future.

me either there's more money in that type of 8 ball

I was assuming he was a little frustrated, his FB messages didn't indicate it though.

I suspect he's just coming to terms with where his relative strengths may best be rewarded.

I sometimes aver that the rotation games, especially 9-ball are very break and safety dependent and those are not the dominant aspects of his game.

True that he'll be facing some very strong opposition in Chinese 8 ball, but I think he'll be among the elite with a bit of practice. He was an outstanding English 8-Ball player, so patterns won't be a problem for him.

A couple of weeks is long time in Pool.
Earlier this month, euphoria and Jaysonity broke loose at Turning Stone . He was hailed as a messiah after the slaughtered Diva Mika in less than 25 minutes. Then he took apart Morra in final and finished off Morra in 3 sets of 8/9/10 ball.
He was the one to best at DCC but limped out 1st round loss in Bigfoot 10 ball to sublime Alex. Then taken apart 9-0 by Pinegar in 9B
Another fad Jaysonity died. Shanity took over briefly after Shane put on 2 out of these world high TPA performances with record 0.95 TPA to clinch Bigfoot
But he is out of contention for MOT after not so great showings in 1P and Banks. Then big Alex the Lion thrashed him in 9B setting TPA record 0.97+ this year
Now Alexanity is the latest fad

I was reading on facebook that sometimes people post things on their "walls" when they are upset and come to find out they were just venting..to their friends ...or out of frustration and it shouldn't be taken to seriously.

No comments or confirmation of his 227 run? Sounds like a pretty freakish effort for a guy who has hardly played that game. I imagine he was running around the table.

Gee wiz , it's almost enough to make you want to get up off your ass, gather up all the pro level players, and organize a legit pro association in the u.s., to build "pro pool" into something much better than it is today.

Naaaah, screw it, I'm going to China.
