Ok so CSI Kamui Challenge this year 22July pits Jayson v Corey in 8 ball race to 21
IMHO, Jayson is a favorite in this one and is not an even match . I mean this Jayson guy has been playing blackball/English 8 ball ( you know the 8ball that uses small tables with small balls 7 Reds,7yellows and 1 black) all his life, is ex-world E8b champ until few years ago when he switched to American pool .
A more even match will be 9 ball . On current form Jayson may just blow away Corey on 8b and 10b. Ironically Corey may be fave over Jayson in snooker LOL
In 8ball I would like to see Jayson play SVB or Orcullo or Efren
I like 8ball and would still watch this match though since there are so few 8 ball events these days. So sad considering 8 ball is by and large the widely played and most popular cue sports with most players in world . 9b involves flukes , 10b depends a lot on break so you could say 8b is fairer.
Bring back 8ball

I'd have to disagree with you on this. Corey's ingenuity makes him a good match-up for Jayson's blackball experience. IMO this race is too short.

and to add... I do take Jayson over Corey here, but I expect to learn a lot about 8-ball watching this match.

I make Corey a small underdog here but not to the level you suggest. He is not exactly new to world class 8-ball experience and in this event he beat a guy that has more pedigree in 8-ball than Jayson.

or here against SVB

He also shows some skills in Chinese 8-ball here

TBH, I think 8-ball might be Corey's best game these days and if he plays to his peak potential Jayson will have his hands very full.

i like how they put Corey down.
Guy has more talent at pool then anyone playing the game, he just refuses to put in the work. At one time he did, and was about unbeatable. Then he fell into something called the Seminole Indian Tribe, moved to Florida, and there went the pool game, he didn't have to play any longer. And he has never got the drive back and probably won't to get where he once was(Which was far superior to Shaw)

Don't get it twisted, Corey is a mad genius at this game. If only he would apply himself. But then you got to ask, why would he, there's no reward

Your right about his game..,

Your right about his game, but your wrong about there being no reward for him applying himself. The reward of a job well done is having done it.

I keep hearing all these statements about people not caring about winning or playing the game at a high level because they cant make any money at it...,

what else are they doing?

I like it!

Corey can play 8 Ball with anybody in the world and he has proven it.

No idea. Whining and crying.

Corey won the Chinook Winds Casino 8 ball , Jayson was there , SVB etc , he won the 4 Bears Casino tourny with a large field a year ago and made a great shot to win it . Double dipped John Morra at Chinook .

I predict a very good match here. In case no one else noticed Corey has been playing well for the last year or so, with multiple wins and high finishes. I'm not sure he's even an underdog here. I'm pretty excited about this match and get to see it up close and personal. It will be live streamed and yours truly will be there, mic in hand.

I hardly think that Corey is an under dog myself. He is so talented and has really been showing it. He loves 8 ball and it shows when he gets to play it.I pick Corey by 4-6 games!

I can't wait to get to watch it

I think almost everything CSI is now BB..... except the 1P

This is as close to an even match as it gets. No way Jayson is a big favorite in this.

If this is rack your own, winner breaks, Corey has the edge.

I will take Corey for $50....

I wonder what break Cory is going to come with? Too hard to predict a favorite here with out knowing the rules (rack your own, soft break, winner breaks). Definitely going to be a good one.

Corey on a barbox in 8 or 9 ball RYO is a genius. I'd take some "underdog" odds on Corey.

I'd have to disagree with you on this. Corey's ingenuity makes him a good match-up for Jayson's blackball experience. IMO this race is too short.

I was going to post about the same thing, it's shot making and power vs "moves" and seeing creative shots. I would love to see what happens, but if they get good breaks with open tables, Corey may be in trouble.

Race to 21 is not too short for a one day thing, but it's shorter that I'm sure we'd all like to see. I'd like to see more all-around multi-day matches or maybe 2-3 races to 15 or something in a few different games instead of one race to 21.

Soft breaking in 8 ball is not the best thing to do, although I really hope there is some type of random rack rule, or at least the regular rules are enforced. The WPA and BCA rules specifically state that the balls in the rack need to be in random order, no idea why tournaments don't enforce that.

Is this an exhibition with no real money on the line?

If so, then I don't think they will lay it on the line. If there was something at stake I would take Corey if someone gave me 2 to 1.
