You wanta' bet on that one week stuff? This is it right here. I wonder how long JB "sticks to his word" by being non negotiable. I give it one more week.
Many years ago the term "anklebiter" was a common insult online. Long since dead language, I feel John Barton is a worthy candidate to usher it back in.

Not at all. I don't care if it gets closed or not. Lou has made it clear that there will be no game on my terms so that's that.
Look at this below - see that ad and those links? If those get views because of me responding to comments for the next week, month, years.....I am good with that.
What no-name anons think of me means less than nothing. All you are good for IMO is to keep allowing me a reason to make another comment in rebuttal and thus get another ad impression in play.
So essentially every time you dog me you pay me for it. Thanks!!

Really? I bet 10k of my OWN money on myself in a match that I was the underdog in AFTER being berated into it across TWO FORUMS over a span of several years with a coordinated effort of at least four people and you call me an ankle biter?
Wow.
And now I offer to bet the guy 20k asking NOTHING more than he come here to pick it up and this is somehow wrong?
You all have a way different idea of gambling than I do. I am definitely GAMBLING in this match. You all also have a different idea of HEART than I do. Where I come from when the underdog says double the bet then he is showing a lot of heart and probably a lot of stupidity as well.
But hey, you are entitled to your opinion. I know who I am and what I stand for. I certainly don't form conspiracies to hustle people. Not that I was "hustled" but they sure think that they did and they are very proud of their accomplishment.
When this ALL started I was BEING POLITE to Lou and HONORING THE AGREEMENT WE SHOOK HANDS ON AT DCC in 2003. I wasn't nasty to this man at all and was always complimentary to him.
Some of prefer to see it otherwise because you don't like me. But the fact is that the record shows Lou was a major major major antagonist on Rec.Sport.Billiards not only to myself but to many others on this and several topics. A professional player who no longer posts here but who is active and engaging on Facebook was son incensed by Lou's comments that he wanted to knock him out.
During my travels in the run-up to the match I heard many "Lou" stories about how disliked he is in the poolrooms. So sure, try to put it all on me but you would be wrong.
Nobody dislikes you, John. It's just the overwhelming majority of people who've followed your moves over the last few years think you have a rather, er, unusual take on reality, one which is highly entertaining.
So, it was all a shill?
Who knew?![]()
No, some people genuinely dislike me.
And yes my perspective is often not in line with other people's. I don't follow the herd and that makes me an easy target.
It's funny how everyone forgets that and your underplaying it , there could have easily been over 1000 posts with the same tone , yet anyone who jumps on your side is a hater a villan should be voted off the island lol
It's also not case specific in any thread when someone disputes it , it really ends civil and often leads to the other person bowing out or one of the 2 is banned
Wilson knows this all to well

If you read you would clearly see a lot more haters towards John then Lou but you are pretty biased anyway.
Lou was offered a fair game, turned it down, no big deal.
Personally I don't play one pocket but I'd have to try if John offered me that game.
I wouldn't sweat the opinions, John. At least you and Lou both had the fortitude to follow through, win or lose.
Take your gamble out of the forum and do what pleases you. Let the others read all about it after the fact. Why include them in on the fun?!
You go Lou! Now I really want to play you next time you come to L.A. I like your style. No 10K game for me. We can play 100 a game until someone says uncle. Winner buys dinner! Deal or no deal? I won't even ask you to play Banks if you win.
P.S. I'm a little (a lot) older than you and I won't ask for a spot.
Personally, putting myself in your shoes, I wouldn't play if I didn't think I would enjoy it. The money is not enough to disrupt my life over and if I wasn't having fun (what I mostly try to do these days), I wouldn't waste the time. Life is aggravating enough without putting yourself in problematic situations.
What I would like to see is John get a chance to play better to redeem himself and get one more shot at your stakehorse's money. However, I totally understand if you just would prefer to walk away.
Just to point out he has negotiated a concession, so his offer wasn't truly non-negotiable. If you are willing to commit to three 8 hour days and pro rated games, I think you have something to work with.
My take on the last match was you were the more experienced pressure player. All these jokes about chicken wing mean nothing. People play great pool with non-conforming technique and bad pool with great form. The last match largely was determined by nerves, self-control and demeanor at the table. All players have to go through this - learn how to play with the heat. I often play bad just because I am nervous or my head's in the wrong place.
So you have to ask yourself: Would I enjoy a rematch? Do I want to be in that spotlight again? If the answer is yes, you should play. As long as the tables are good, it doesn't matter where. I've found all I need to like is the table. 3 days, 8 hours a day, pro rate on an agreed upon table. Privately negotiate a stake that each can afford to lose, because there are never guarantees in gambling.
If I were you I would never play me again for any amount. You're not worried about the trash talking since you did plenty of it. You're flat out scared to lose. Just like every two-bit nit in every pool room around the world. You snapped off one score and you will hold onto it like it's the last drop of water on earth.
And that's fine, if I were in your position I would want to savor the most important victory of my life as well. It's still nitty but I can understand the sentiment.
