Jeanette Lee strikes again! Whether or not she wins the San Diego event, Jeanette showed the power and poise I spoke of after the DCC. Maybe her return to prominance will give other women cause to practice harder. North American women have been "pushed" aside for several years now by the snooker player invasion. All the "Green Guy" talks about is another English (British) player coming over here to try to dominate. Come on Tiff, come on Sarah, come on Mellisa and for me, COME ON JEANETTE!!!!

TAP, TAP, TAP. You tellum Kid.

I agree, its very possible Jeanette can reclaim the #1 ranking if she keeps up her new found focus on playing. She is now 5 for her last 5 against Karen, and 3 out of her last 6 against Allison. She has beaten Allison and Karen on the same day twice in the last few months. It should be interesting to see the championship match results from today.

Just a correction (before it is pointed out to me); Jeanette has actually beaten Karen and Allison on the same day 3 times in the past few months. If this keeps up, maybe we can quit complaining to the Immigration Department about Karen and Allison.

well, i root for allison, not only do i like her game better, i hung out extensivly with both of them, and i don't care for jeanette lee as a person. allison on the other hand, is as sweet as candy.

Don't care for Jeanette Lee as a person either. Too pretentious for my taste. No need for dramatics,Jeanette. We already know you could play some. Just play.

I'm sure everyone knows this but sometimes we forget, Jeanette has had something like 5 back surgeries so it's amazing she's even able to compete at this level. I have sciatica and lower back pain and it bothers me when I shoot pool so I can't even imagine what it must be like to have a steel rod in my back!

Before the DCC tournament on BCn, I would have disagreed with Bernie and Condor, but I was a little turned off by her behavior there. They were interviewing one of the bank pool players and Jeanette butted right in and practically took over the interview, I didn't think that was very cool.

That's the 'celeb' thing. I mean, we can't all be a charming and gracious as Strickland :D

I felt the same way about Jeannette before with all that "sexy" Black Widow stuff. But since seeing her in public I have changed my mind. She always goes out of her way to talk to her fans and take pictures with them. She has been very gracious to children. Moreover she always says hello and shows reverence to those older than her. That is my exprerience with her.

Remember she is an American and from New York. Her brashness and toughness might come from that environment. London is easier in terms of safety for a woman compared to New York City. As for Allison she is great but she is a guest in our country and guests generally are at the least polite. Id really like to see Allison in her own environment.

But most of all she is a fine example of someone who is dedicated to pool and can reach success with hard work.

I was there on Saturday and watched Jeanette beat both Allison and Karen with a couple of games to spare in the race to 9. Almost all of the other races went hill - hill - a very enjoyable tournament. The cheer from the crowd was USA, USA - though Jeanette is the only American left.

To Jeanette's credit I understand that she is concentrating on her game and has people coaching her to improve her game. I presume that she finally is making good money and could sluff off, but that is not the case.

For me, if it was a standard Allison and Korr final as we have seen for the past years, the interest would be juist a rerun, but Jeaneete and Vivian had the crowd going in contrast to the stoic Europeans. The big surprise was how well Anita (K) Macmahon (sp) (North American) faired though losing to the G Force at the end.

Young Sarah Rousey and Lisa Marr (seemed tired) were impressive in their break out performances - too me.

I have a lot of respect for Jeanette given what she's had to go through to be where she's at today!! I've been a real fan of hers since meeting her in Reno before the whole "Black Widow" thing. She was very friendly, funny and just great to be around. I'm hoping that she just made a mistake butting into someone else's interview. We all make mistakes but unfortunately for people in the limelight, their mistakes are magnified tenfold. I'm still a fan of hers, I just hope she isn't getting that "me, me, me" syndrome that sometimes happens to celebrities.

Actually, I think she has had a total of 8 surgeries, and has multiple steel rods all the way from the skull to the tailbone. She does an incredible amount for charities here in Indy. I think her public persona (of necessity) is definitely somewhat aloof. You would be amazed at how intrusive the fans are wherever she goes, I think the aloofness is a defense mechanism. While she is playing, however, she is very dynamic and vocal (a match between Vivian and Jeanette is really entertaining). I would much rather watch her play than Allison - more emotion, more spectacular power shots. If I wanted to watch cold emotionless robots play I would watch professional golf.

I agree with you Willie. I think one of the best ways to propel this game into the spotlight is for the players to show more emotion. I love to watch Allison play but I'm a pool player and can appreciate what she's doing. The average person doesn't have a clue about how much skill it takes to makes certain shots. They can appreciate the emotions of winning and losing though. You gotta get em into the tent before you can make any money! Once they get interested, they will eventually learn more about the game and that's what it's all about.

Jeanette Lee!!!

Hi Folks,

Not that she needs any defenders but, here are my thoughts on that again. I believe it was the last Friday or Saturday morning at the DCC, I stopped by the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Jeanette and George were having words with friends. I went to my table to eat. Much later, I would guess 30 minutes, Jeanette sat down at my table and asked why I had stopped by hers. I invited her and George to come join us at a Joss Tour event here in Rochester. She explained why she couldn't. I understood and agreed. We had played the week before. Other than those games, I had never met her. She did not have to stop by. It wasn't necessary to explain her business practices. She spent time with me and made a fan! I never saw her refuse an autograph or a photo op. I never heard a bad word from her other than "Darn" when she missed a shot playing me. Very, very Classy lady!

Good! I'm glad to hear that. I certainly liked her when I met her and was afraid celebrity status had gotten to her. Pool needs some class and sounds like Jeanette can deliver plenty of it!

i've tried to speak to Jeanette in Las Vegas and Peoria, both places on more than one occassion.

i dunno, seems like the jury is still out on her as far as i am concerned. i kinda get the impression its beneath her to talk to me. guess i might try and speak to her again this June in Peoria.

Allison, on the other hand, has seen me enough that she always waves and speaks. on tuesday night at the 2002 BCA tournament in Vegas Allison was getting ready to play Akimi Kajitani (sp?) and i was the only one sitting next to her in the VIP seats. kind of surprising to me that nobody else was there to watch her play. anyway, just before the match started she turned and asked me how i was doing, said she remembered seeing me before. i ALWAYS watch allison play, thats probably the reason why. and then 3 months later in Peoria she saw me on friday night just before her match with Monica Webb started and she smiled and waved. nice girl, class act, tremendous skill level, nice a...

regards,
michael

I didn't realize that uttering the word "crap" repeatedly on national television qualified someone as being "classy". If anything, Allison deserves the label. She is an ultimate professional at the table.

Ditto that. From what I saw at the DCC she was a real class act all the way.

Like williebetmore said, it's a defense mechanism. I saw Allison in Vegas at the APA nats. There were 5000 amatuer pool players there all wanting to meet her so when she walked thru the hallways she always had a cell phone to her ear. Otherwise she would be there 24 hours a day signing autographs and talking.

Conversely, I was at VF in 2000 and Allison came up into the VIP seats after her last match to watch the other matches. There were very few people nearby. I spoke to her and she was the nicest person you could possibly imagine.
