Jeannette

Pharaoh,

Let me toss in another story about the kind of person Jeanette Lee is. I friend of mine suffers from very sever scoliosis. When you see him it is very obvious. He is also one of the most devoted pool players I have ever met. In about a year he is undergoing pretty extensive surgery without which the scoliosis will kill him. Needless to say, he is pretty nervous about the whole thing.

He is an admirer of Jeanette because of the pool and scoliosis. It means a lot to him that a person with a condition similar to his has achieved so much in pool.

At the DCC I got an opportunity to meet a fellow member that knows Jeanette. I told this fellow poster about my friend and the fellow poster offered to pass my friend’s contact information on to Jeanette. Shortly after this, Jeanette personally contacted my friend and they have exchanged several emails. For him, this was a very big deal.

There were no appearance fees and no publicity. There was nothing in it for Jeanette Lee. She simply reached out to a fellow person to give a little support. To me, that is who Jeanette Lee is.

YEAH! AND, she was willing to pose for a picture with breakup!

I mean.....how much does one woman have to give for gawd's sake?!?!?!? :D

ScottR,
I am SOOOO ticked off that I didn't think to say that. Thanks for the assist.

appearance money is tough to manage

One thing to consider if she did say she had to have appearance money to play in a tournament is the simple business aspect.

Sounds like it was considerable travel but besides that when you charge similar events and do some free you quickly get people upset and they don't want to pay appearance money either. The same thing happens when the rumors fly about the amount of appearance money being all over the place for similar visits.

Bottom line is the lady is in the business of marketing herself and she has a manager looking for their cut too. Sometimes good business practices don't allow you to do what you would like to.

Pharoah,
It sounds to me like they are ALL "respecting" your right to have an opinion, they just don't respect the opinion itself - nothing wrong with that. Disagreeing is not the same as "dis-respecting." Since most of us are here to discuss and share our views, all of the discourse so far seems fairly appropriate to me.

I think you are dealing fairly well, though, with the adversity. Taking the high road is never easy, and having people disagree with your opinions is never easy either; but it IS a great part of the forum experience that we can agree to disagree. It seems that posters who are able to do this always garner more respect from the way they handle these things than from the opinions they actually express.

Look-
I understand that I most people here do not agree with me. Truth is, I don;t care. I have my reasons for feeling the way I do and no one here is going to change my mind regardless of her accolades and her charitable contributions, etc.

But look at post #49 in this thread and if you call this "respectfully disagreeing" with me, then we have a different idea of what respectful means.

Pharoah, What's the deal? You have already back-pedaled on your original post. Why are you throwing these Quotes of posts that were made before you back pedaled. Looking for pity? It ain't going to happen! I felt compelled to give you my first ever bad post point because your original post was like a fart you did not check first. I think it would be best to leave this thread behind us. JEANETTE IS A WONDERFUL LADY!

Rackem-
Since it seems to have slipped by you, allow me to explain, er, dummy up what i have said. This should make it easier for you to understand. I have a negative opinion of Jeanette Lee. I expressed. Perhaps I chose the wrong words and I expressed that point as well. But I still have that negative opinion of Jeanette and that is not going to change. I expressed that also. When I posted earlier how 'Jeanette is cool! I love Jeanette!' and all of that stuff, that was a blatant attempt to pacify all of you who feel a need to crucify me for not finding her to be the saint that all of you think she is. Sarcasm is apprantly lost on you.

So, here I go once and for all! I stand by my opinion. None of you have changed it. I respect your opinions and your right to have them! If she has done good by you, congrats. Now, as for this thread, I've stated my peace and I could care less what you all say from here on out. I'm done.

Pharaoh has his opinion for whatever reason. Most everyone disagrees for whatever reason. Leave him alone for what he thinks. He may be wrong in most people's eyes, but telling him how great she is won't change his opinion. I have seen Mrs. Lee a few times and she seems nice, but who am I to say. I do think she has done many good things for the game, but I will not talk down to someone because of their opinions. Thanks!

I read it in one of the pool magazines: Jenannette stated that she believes that she is more talented than Allison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get outta here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her Quote was "More natural talent." I still can't agree on that. Johnnyt

In response to your post, MeMikey:

You're 100% correct. The pool hall owner didn't get the list until the night before the tourney.

I meant to type "I don't Know, but I heard Jeanette Lee went two and out the past two qualifiers."

Thanks for the proofreading!
