Jerry Briesath

Awright Randy

Jerry was a standout 14.1 artist. I'm sure he can play any game. Like the rest of us, Jerry spends most of his time teaching (thank God) not playing.

When you watch Jerry walk, he always walks a little tilted. That's because he's got all of my golf money in his pocket. Yes, Jerry is also an outstanding golfer....go figure.............SPF=randyg

Quit knockin his action HA HA!!!!! Might have made a few scores from here.

Nice post Jason. Jason is back here in Muncie for the holidays. I haven't been on here much, because of kids and holiday stuff. We were talking about this thread last night. Soon as he mentioned Jerry, I said, "he's considered the best teacher in pool". I have belived that since I first heard his name many years ago. And yes, he should be voted into the Hall of Fame. As Randy said, "unequivocal" may be the word.

Sam...Jerry has "passed the torch" on to randyg!

jerry cool

i like and respect jerry.
ive only talked to him a couple times and hes cool.
the fact that he plays good i think gives validity to his teachings.

i wouldnt mind someday teaching with him because i think he could show me alot of things on how to effectively teach people.

i like mark wilsons game and character also.

I used to work for Jerry back in the 1970's at CueNique Billiards in Madison, WI. Jerry was definitely a trendsetter in creating beautiful rooms that left the old style halls in the dust.

One of his inventions was an electronic table management board that he collaborated on with a local UW Madison brainiac. It would turn the lights on/off, figure time and $ for 1 to 4 players and it looked good too.

And yes, Jerry was a top player that played any game well (and I'm sure he still does :-)

I learned a lot from Jerry and I probably should've been paying him to work there.

Some years later I moved to So Cal and bought a cue from Lou Butera's store on Laurel Canyon. Lou was watching me try the cues out and asked me where I learned to play. When I mentioned Jerry in Madison he said he could definitely see Jerry's influence on my stroke.

Sounds like a lot of our lives reflect some of Jerry's influence. Thanks, Jerry!

fd_colorado...Cuenique was a great room. Jerry sold a heck of a lot of those table management systems over the years!

Have any of you taken Jerry's lessons at his school? My husband and I watched his video today and both feel he knows how to explain so we can understand. His web site mentions three days is best if traveling to WI for his school. But it doesn't give a price range. With two of us wanting to go I'm curious how much to even know should I save up before contacting him for a price and schedule.

Tonya...I believe Jerry is in Phoenix for the winter. He has been giving lessons out there. If you PM me, I will give you his phone number.

Jerry played in several Johnston City tourneys and may have even gone out to Vegas for a couple of the Stardust events. He was a good solid player capable of beating anyone else.

Jason...Jerry was the reason both randyg and I got into teaching! He started the BCA Certified Instructor program more than 20 years ago, and it has grown leaps and bounds since then. Jerry has received the President's Award from the BCA for a lifetime of service to our sport, but I think he deserves to be in the HOF. I know I an indebted to him for instilling a basic understanding of how to teach pool well, and he will always be my lifelong friend. I was fortunate enough to be invited to teach with him and Mark Wilson, at the BCA Summer Youth Cue Camps, in the early 90's, which made a huge impact on me. Jerry will be teaching with randyg, myself, and several other top instructors, at another major teaching event next year. More on that to come soon.

Totally agree about Jerry being inducted in the HOF. I took lessons from Jerry near 20 years ago. His methods of teaching fundamentals are far superior to others. I wish Jerry, or this forum (if Jerry unwilling to??) would list the countless professionals, masters, shortstops, and more, he helped to reach their levels of playing?

To state that Jerry is a great teacher would be an injustice to our sport.

Jerry's contributions over the years puts him way above the rest of us. If it were not for Jerry I would be bowling today. [...]

Golfing Randy... You would be golfing...

Scott, thank you very much. His site lists his number for AZ and WI. I'm thinking I might ask for his class as my birthday present. I can go up when he goes back to WI and even take in some Brewers games. But with two of us taking it, I need to find out how much I'll need to be saving. :-)

I'd like to add my meager endorsement for Jerry. And, also for Mark Wilson, as John Schmidt mentioned above. Mark obviously learned a ton from Jerry during the early 80's at Cuenique.

I'm very grateful to have Jerry (And Mark Wilson) close in Arizona. Jerry is giving lessons almost every day at Bullshooters in Phoenix.

He sets up a camera and sits back in the corner in a quiet private area and works 1 on 1 with students for hours and hours.

Although I've seen him numerous times, I've yet to see him play any besides the shots in his teachings.

He must be a good guy, His Name is Jerry, He lives in Wisconsin and in Phoenix. (btw, My name is Jerry and I'm from Wisconsin and Live in Phoenix)

Hi Tonya;

I spent several days with Jerry in Arizona. Simply put, he is the best. You will get your moneys worth if you spend the time.
