Jim Croce and Big Jim Walker played

a relatively high game/set of pool one
night after Croce had been singing

Jim walker won a few grand and they afterward sat down to jawbone
Croce promised to remember Jim Walker in song

One day he did,
"uptown has it's hustler

The Bowery has it's bums
42nd street has big Jim Walker
A pool shooting son of a gun"

Some of you know and love the song

Jim Walker later went into case building,
pool cue cases

I recently bought a beautiful 2x4 basket weave pattern with
a Big Indian Chief tooled on the front with a feather head dress

I hope to get pictures taken for your enjoyment
I may send it to Paul Drexler

He has agreed to make me a very fancy Indian themed pool cue

some of you have seen his "Comanche Indian "cue

As you know I love theme cues,Paul Drexler cues and Indian Art

not necessarily in that order

So I hope you guys will get a kick out of this

I think I have let some of the best cues ever made slip through my hands

I am thinking I could make up for all of those by getting the single best cue ever

At least in my opinion ,it will be the best

He passed in my first adopted town natchitoches la.

People there still talk about it. Was such a shame. I used to run by that spot all the time and see the tree line and I’d be singing that song in my head. Good cadence for a run and good cadence for shooting as well

Find out where it's at
And it's not hustlin' people strange to you
Even if you do got a two piece custom made pool cue

thanks for posting the line to the song
that was fun to watch and hear

There was a shortstop pool player named Jim Walker who ran around with either Scott Smith or Sean Walsh a long, long time ago (both out of Phoenix at the time). He was a good looking, solidly built young man who was about six feet tall. He didn't stay around L.A. that long, maybe a few weeks or so. This thread made me think about him and wonder what became of him. Just wondering if it could be the same guy who Croce referred to in his song.

I heard he met up with Willie McCoy, and that was bad news for Big Jim.

Paul Drexler is one of the very best custom cuemakers on earth, a member of an elite group
whose membership can about be counted on one's thumbs.

His abilities in cue design and execution are, in some cases, clear off the proverbial charts.
He has done some stunning Native American cue masterpieces, and would be The choice of where to send your case.
Then turn Paul loose.

Indian Case

Pics or it didn't happen.

I have this case now. When my wife and I visited Dean and June
a little while back, he showed it to me, and one of the latches
was not working. I told him I might be able to fix it. With my wife being
ill, the holidays coming, raising my grandson, evaluating cues,
running Deans Secret Contest, making Deans rocking horse,
deciphering the Dead Sea Scrolls, and having no idea about
leather work, I haven't gotten to it. It a very cool case, unlike
any I have seen. I can't post pictures, I can't even take pictures.
Maybe I should learn but I have it from a pretty reliable source
that computers are just a fad, so I might wait. I don't want to
spend all that time for nothing. It really is a cool case.

**blinks**.

Jack... you're deciphering the Dead Sea Scrolls??? Are you making any progress? I spent THIRTY YEARS trying to decipher them and got **nowhere**!!! But, that may be because I don't speak ( or read ) Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek. I tried correspondence schools but it didn't help much. But that's amazing you're doing it too! GOOD LUCK WITH IT!

Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek,is that what that is? Well that explains it. I thought
they just had bad penmanship. I'm glad you told me. The only other language
that I know is Pig Latin, and I am almost positive that it's not that.

Aterlay...

Jack Pot is absolutely crazy

He made the Libra Cues,Shot Great Pool back in the day
and has a crazy sense of humor that probably confuses
you guys here on Az

His wife Pam has recently gone through Chemo and an operation
on December 28 she is expecting the final result yet when you see her and Jack they are
such happy people. She seems to really enjoy his wise cracking

Jack really is fixing my case, building my grandson a rocking horse and testing
my cues

His reports are not reliable because they all play good when he test them,I thought he
could do pictures on this Indian case,I really do want you to see it

Thanks for comments from Will Prout about all this stuff too
