Hello,

I would like to ask for some information about these superb case builders. I would like to know what experiences have you had with them, how much time is it till he makes a case (if it's a custom order), etc...

Honestly, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for everyone in advance,

Hey buddy, how are you? I like Murnaks work, all his tooling is hand carved and he makes 6 different styles of cases. I can't speak about Justis cases, cause I never had one to compare. Here's their web sites and you can make your choice. I like Murnaks work. 2 of my 4 cases are on Jim's site, one is the Hybrid #GL2504 and the other is under softside/zipper #GL2404

My experience with Jim Murnak was nothing short of an experience to be remembered. I went to his studio in Brooklyn and was welcomed by a very warm man who took me on a tour, even explaining how he dyed his own leather. He asked about my needs, such as the size of the case for shafts and cues, if I needed pockets for a jump cue and other accessories, budget, and on and on. Then we chose a case design, color of leather, and carving style. After all was decided, off we went to his Brunswick Gold Crown table to shoot a few balls. About a month later I was surprised with a case that was not only functional in all ways that mattered, but was even more beautiful than my expectations. If fact, I get compliments everywhere I take it. If you want quality, originality, value, as far as I am concerned, Jim Murnak is one of the finest artisans in the world, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Go for it. Here's the case he made for me. http://www.jimmurnakcuecases.com/gl2143.htm

Taking all criteria into consideration, Jim Murnak cases are the best in the world. Period.

personally

I think each have their merits and considerations, and do not leave John Barton out either.

My recent personal experience with Murnak is at
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=73790

Jack Justis builds a SUPER case. Personally I preferred the old style tubes better than the Pro-lite, but thats just my experience.

John Barton made Instroke what it was at its best. He now has jbcases.com rolling.

I do not think you will go wrong with whomever you decide on. All three, are very attentive to not only their workmanship, but their customers as well.

There have been dozens of pages on AZB discussing and debating the features of Justis, Whitten, Murnak and others. Use the search feature at the top right of the page for 4,000 opinion posts.

That said, all 3 offer excellent cases, depends on your style and preferences. I've owned all 3 cases, personally I'd rank them:

1...Murnak
2...Whitten
3...Justis

Thank you all!

Thank you all very-very much for your responses, they are a great a help to me!

What I did not say is that this particular case will be for a good friend and customer of mine. I have been dealing with cues and cases locally and made many friends and repeat customers. Like I said, he is one of them and would like to get the best for him.

A couple of minutes ago he came out with this Justis case being his #1.

He said that perhaps I could give Jack Justis a call regarding such a case, but I am a bit sceptical about this. His phone number is provided at his site, but I would like to know whether he can truly be reached through that one - I mean that he'll answer the phone, etc.

Just a very few words for me: I'd rather go for a Murnak... I don't really have a break or a b/j cue, so I'd go for a 1?2 case as those are more practical to me.

Let me thank you once again your help, it's really-really appreciated.

I know of a good way to find out...:D

It is greatly appreciated, but I wouldn't like to make that many calls into the States from here, Hungary - that would make quite a phone bill :) Anyways, thanks :D

If you call within normal operating hours from 9AM - 5PM, Eastern Standard Time, you should get Jack. He's a one man shop.

I would suggest since you're from another country that you e-mail him first so you two can setup a time to talk rather than risk wasting time.

Thanks, but unfortunately that is not going to be mine. Could you post a few pictures of your Justis here or through a PM if you have the chance or if you have some taken already?

Thank you too, it's valuable information. I am 6 hours "ahead" so it's 15:00 here when he opens his shop :)

I have just sent him an e-mail, but in case he did not answer I will call him on Wednesday or Thursday the latest.

Thank you all again!

truth

Murnik cases = custom. What another zipper here or there? Done. What another pocket here or there? Done. What what ever here or there? Done.

Justice = Production. The very best of the production world. But if you want extra pockets, zippers, or try asking him to move the strap from one side to the other (as i did), NOPE. He makes what he makes and his cases are beautiful for what they are.

Whitten = custom. Same as Murnik.

My choice is Murnik everyday and twice on Sundays.

Now that turns things up a bit as my friend would like to get a couple changes, but nothing that is not listed on Jack's site - his name on the case, a protection band, etc.

I will see what Jack says but thanks for the heads up!!!

Wow is this true? That's pretty disappointing actually.

Hey, hold on there partner. Who said I don't offer choice of pockets, extra zippers, and putting the strap on the opposite side? I do it all the time but not for free as I am sure Jim charges extra for special changes. Mr. Murnak makes a fine case but I bet he would appreciate it a little more when promoting him to at least get the spelling of his name right.;) By the way, my cases are made one at a time and not made on a production line......yet.
