Jim Murnak, Jack Justis cases

I have a Murnak 2x4 and was one of the original guys to get them.... It's been a great case! I recently had a small issue that I called Jim about and he said to send it to him. In addition to fixing the small problem, he's also going to replace the entire insides with the newer lighter weight materials.. Great guy to work with.

As far as Jack Justis, his reputation and product is stellar. I've yet to own a Justis case, but will be ordering one this year - hopefully in the very near future....

Really

Justice = Production. The very best of the production world. But if you want extra pockets, zippers, or try asking him to move the strap from one side to the other (as i did), NOPE. He makes what he makes and his cases are beautiful for what they are.
Whitten = custom. Same as Murnik.

My choice is Murnik everyday and twice on Sundays.

Hey, hold on there partner. Who said I don't offer choice of pockets, extra zippers, and putting the strap on the opposite side? I do it all the time but not for free as I am sure Jim charges extra for special changes. Mr. Murnak makes a fine case but I bet he would appreciate it a little more when promoting him to at least get the spelling of his name right.;) By the way, my cases are made one at a time and not made on a production line......yet.

Yep, i didn't spell Murnak's name correctly. My bad.

However, a few years ago when i called and spoke with you Jack personally on the phone you would not do the following:
Wanted a jump cue pocket on the side of a super long pocket. You wouldn't make large pocket larger then x inches. And you wouldn't put in a jump cue handle pocket in the side of the large pocket you did make. Then i asked if you would move the strap to the other side of the case. Again, you said nope. You never said you would at an extra expense, you only said no.

When i called Jim, he said yes. It was very easy to choose who to go with.

Jack, If you now do these custom request then i say i'm sorry for making incorrect statements here on this forum.

No problem, if I remember correctly when you called, I was backlogged on orders and really did not want to take on prototype work of making new patterns nor did I want you to wait an extended period of time to receive the case. I don't mind making certain changes if I am not backlogged, but being a one man shop prevents this from happening quite often. My main goal is to stay on schedule and get my orders out when promised. I often recommend Murnak or Whitten when I an unable to fulfill a customers request. Both are fine casemakers and do exceptional work.

Cue Cases

Between Jim Murnak and Jack Justiss, I do not think you can go wrong. There are many options relative to materials, carving, etc. I recommend you take you time and look around at what they have to offer.

I got a huge 4x8 Murnak case and love it.
Mine is on the link below.

Since I bought mine, there have been more examples and carving ideas to review. Same with Jack Justiss. He has had some beautiful carved cases other AZers have shown on this forum.

It is greatly appreciated, but I wouldn't like to make that many calls into the States from here, Hungary - that would make quite a phone bill :) Anyways, thanks :D

I would like to suggest using Skype. I am based in China and I use Skype for almost all of my overseas calls as well as my inbound calls.

The cost is .02cts per minute to call overseas. I have a USA phone number provided by Skype that allows people in the USA to call me and if I am not available on Skype it forwards to my cell phone.

www.skype.com

This is truly a great, great service for anyone living overseas. I find it invaluable.

Thank you for the link and for the opinion. I share your POV that I won't be able to go wrong with any of them eventhough I have been talking with Jack only. Everything has turned out to be true until now what you've said except for the production manufacturing.

By now I have made a couple of searches on the forum and found many threads with valuable pictures of cases by these two masters. "Unfortunately" I couldn't find one single piece that I didn't like so I personally feel like getting one also... but there's quite some time to pass until I get to that point :(

Thank you for the suggestion, I will get it up and running some time but I haven't got any experience with that program. I will ask someone to help me with it, it would make my life easier, I guess! Thank you for the heads up.
