As of today, I will not take any more custom case orders. I have found that I am the only one that I can trust to do the job that I want done on the cases and I don't want to be a one man production line. I appreciate all of the customers that I have had, and I will finish all of the orders that I am working on at this time. I am not closing the door to re-starting in the future or possibly making cases ocasionally and putting them up for sale. But as for now, I'm done.

Thanks,
Jim

Pretty sad actually. Jim makes a great case.

I hope in the future you find the time and desire to come back to making cases at some level. You do great work. I haven't owned one yet but I have looked longingly at many. Best wishes on your future plans.

Now I have a question about an IWB holster I had my eye on.... :D

So does this mean that you are also not doing repairs for your cases any longer? I had been meaning to contact you for sometime to get my brass clasp fixed and then also both shoulder strap rivets had come undone. I bought one of your cases while deployed to Iraq back in 05 as a gift to myself upon returning. It's since been with me through many of miles and poolhalls.

Thank you for creating a fine case.

Contact AZ member quadrary - he can probably help you with repairs to Murnak cases if Jim can't get to yours.

Well I guess this sheds a new perspective on the remaining inventory of Murnak cases that Roy has available. They are still on sale at www.indyq.com for those of you who have been wanting a Murnak. I am not sure how many he has left but it's under 30 I think.

I got my two, a 3x6 and now a 2x4 on the way. Got mine used in trade deals.

In any event it's too bad that you are quitting Jim. You did put out quite a lot of interesting cases over the years. I fully understand the staffing issue. It's tough to run a shop where you need a certain level of quality and ability to depend on your staff to do it right the first time. That's the downside to having staff. Sometimes I am quite jealous of Justis and Rusty and Marc for this aspect. They don't have the breadth of styles that you and I do but they are in complete control of every aspect of their cases and only do as much as they themselves can do.

Well good luck with whatever you do and hope to see you putting out some stuff here and there. Maybe it will be more fun if you just make what you want to make.

Hey Deadpoked, After all the crap I put mine through this seems to be the one issue that I had as well. The rivets seem to be breaking down on the straps as well as the lid. IMO they would have held better if they had been double stitched on as well. Either way I put my case through a workout and am NOT knocking Jim's cases. I have made several positive threads in the past concerning Jim's cases but this does seem to be a weak point in the construction.. I wonder where the hardware was made??

I will still stand behind my cases.

No. When I sold the cases, I said that I would stand behind them and I will. I am not going out of business or anything. I have a company, Fist, Inc, that makes holsters and police training gear that is doing fine. I will be making sure that I will help you with any problems that may arise.

Thanks,
Jim

Just saw this.

Man this is terrible. Truly one of the best designed cases I have ever owned.

Well, I guess I had better make sure I hold on to mine.

Thanks for the great case Jim

Well that makes that choice easier.

Too Bad not everybody has pride in their work.

Sad, sad news. I for one hope you still keep your hand in, Jim. I love all the cases you have made me and it was a pleasure meeting you at VF in 2008 to collect my masterpiece.

You are without doubt one of the best case makers on the planet and your work will be missed.

Glad I got my case when I did. It took a little longer than expected but well worth the wait. Mr. Murnak is a true gentlemen and makes a great case.
