Jimmy is definitely an elbow dropper. If you had Jimmy's collection of dvd's you would see that on many of his shots. Jimmy once played in a tournament with over 4300 entries in it and yes, he won the tournament. I believe it was an eight ball tournament. He is also a U.S. OPen 9 Ball Champion with many other World and National titles to his credit.

Does anyone know of a tournament with more than 4500 entries in one discipline? I played in a 2,015 entry tournament once.

Jimmy believes in elevating your cue for draw. I elevate my cue a little bit for draw as well.

I like a lot of the things that Jimmy teches and I now teach many of them to my students.

There is so much valuable information in his videos it is hard to really take it in at one time. I have been reviewing his material periodically over the past couple of months and continue to be amazed about the quality of the content in practically everything he shares.

If you're interested in improving or learning about pool, Jimmy information will be valuable to the novice, intermediate or professional.

I really have to thank Shooting Arts for sharing his copy with me. After I saw how valuable Jimmy's "Almost All I know" set of videos, I purchased a set for myself.

What I like about his videos, is that he articulates everything that is going on his head and he's got a lot going on.

Jimmy, you're the man! I wonder if Jimmy would be interested in doing some commentary with me? I would have to have him sign one of JoeyA's contracts to share the pool knowledge that is not in his "Almost All I know" videos.

Getting Jimmy to share the booth with you would be great. I don't know anyone who would be a better pick. He definitely has a lot of secrets for you to try and tap in to JoeyA.

I really like Jimmys point of view on many aspects from contact point to contact point aiming to the elevated draw. He is a master instructor. I think his best quote from the no time for negative series is when he describes the mainstream thought on keeping the cue level for draw shots he says "forget all that". I bought the video when it came out on vhs. It's still the best instuctional material on video to date IMO.

Watching the DVD's now.

Joey,

I'm rewatching and digesting Jimmy's DVD's right now. Like a good book there are still things to pick up after several passes through. Jimmy's equal and opposite explanation of contact points is how I aim and simply a great and brilliantly simple way to explain it. There were some things I needed reminding of on the very first DVD too. I remember the DVD's gave me value for dollar before I had watched ten minutes of them the first time. A hard deal to beat for five DVD's since I still had many hours of instruction to learn more!

This elbow dropper thingie

Joey:

This "elbow dropper" thingie -- how does one use it? I'm using a turkey baster, and it's difficult to aim it when I have it positioned up against the wall with my elbow, leaning into it with my elbow to depress the bulb.

What's it used for?

:D

Jimmy's DVD is timeless. It is a must have for anyone that is searching for infromation to inprove their game.

Max Erbele goes a little further about explaining the elbow drop. Max's DVD is almost as if it is a update on Jimmy's. It is another one that gives a lot of material, and advice on the game. If you like Jimmy's you will also like Max.

A note from jimmy reid.........................

I am in close contact with Jimmy Reid on a weekly basis. His health is not too good right now as he is dependant on a feeding tube for his daily nourishment. Jimmy is living with his 86 year old mother in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Jimmy and his mom are having a rough time with finances as Jimmy's step father passed away suddenly a few months ago and his income is sorely missed. Jimmy asked me to post a note from him and here it is.

To all the wonderful people on these forums. Life's wonderful, my last C.A.T. scan just came back CANCER FREE, pretty great news considering they didn't expect me to live more than 2 years following the surgery. One more cancer free scan and they tell me I can forget about it coming back.

Inquiries over the last couple of years about exactly what happened to me have prompted me to write this, in January of 06 they found 4th stage cancer in my head (center brain) and back of my tongue (probably from smoking) 2 months of chemo and 38 days in a row of 1/2 hour radiation treatments later, they removed these 4th stage cancer tumors. This has left me (temporarily) with the inability to swallow.

I won't go into any more detail than that but believe me it's been rough but having overcome following Ronnie Allen (the real Fast Eddie) playing ring pay ball, I figured this would be a walk in the park. LOL

But, I'll have to admit this Big C has been real tough action, the toughest ever, the only way to handle it mentally for me has been through my faith in Jesus Christ, love and contact from friends and family, counting my blessings and by keeping my dreams, goals and plans alive to make a major comeback - to play pool and win a major event again.

Recently some old and new friends alike have contacted me to let me know that they've been praying for me from all over the world. Thank you all, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Advances in medical science are occurring every day that might be the answer to what ails me, I have a doctors consultation scheduled for Dec.21, 09 to discuss just that possibility.

God willing, there's going to be a healing in me that will even shock my doctors, I know It.

Again, thanks to all of you that have purchased my dvds and to those of you that continue to mention me in your prayers. God bless you all. Jimmy Reid

Jimmy...That is really good news! Hang in there...I'm sure the next scan will be the best one yet! Your instructional series has helped many people! Best wishes for a continued recovery...and best wishes to your mom too! Hope you both have a nice holiday!

Darth...Rep to you for posting Jimmy's letter. Thank you!

To those who never had the pleasure of Hippy Jimmy Reid's company, I can only tell you that he was always what we call a "straight ticket." That means someone who wont ever quit. If you could beat Jimmy, you busted him. But that made for some difficult times for his opponents, and in this case, the Cancer battle, and the Cancer didnt like it. Most of us, knowing the severity of his condition, gave up on him years back. Even CornBreadRed never had to go up against that much of the "nuts." We gave up, but he didnt, and he shot his way out of the trap from the back rail.
When I was down at Derby City one year, I collected autographs and mementos from the players I knew. Figured it might be the last chance for some. This is what Jimmy wrote to me, "To the Beard, great friend, Life and a day. Jimmy Reid." I probably treasured that note the most. It's posted up on my wall in my game room.
Nothing left to say other than to recommend Jimmy's instructional stuff. He knows what he's talking about, and his knowledge could benefit any player. Buy the DVDs for Xmas and give Jimmy a little help in his time of need. I would love to see him back on the tourn trail.

Thank you Darth.

Some of you might think from time to time that I have an agenda in making posts like this which I do from time to time. My only agenda is to give credit where credit is due. I have only met Jimmy one time and that was many years ago at Rackateer's where he played our local champion Howard Ikeda. That's been many years ago and only a brief encounter. At that time, I didn't realize the depth of his understanding of the fundamenetals or the nuances of this great sport. :o

Jimmy's pool videos are EXCELLENT and I can guarantee that each and every one of you will learn many things that far exceed the cost of the videos. One of the ways that Jimmy's videos differ from othe videos is in addition to demonstrating and executing the principles that he teaches, he shares the thoughts that are going through his head while doing the D & E. For any of you who teach pool or that play pool competitively, you know His thoughts nor his shots are choreographed and that is refreshing. His collection of pool videos should be in every pocket billiard enthusiasts library.

Jimmy Reid is a WORLD CHAMPION and he has the ability to articulate his thoughts in a concise and intelligent manner which enables you to see what a champion sees and thinks as he attempts to play.

Jimmy has a great spirit and it was an honor to hear his words of inspiration. That's right, inspiration. Jimmy continues to show the heart of a champion even in the face of an "almost" invincible opponent and that should inspire each and every one of us to do the best with what we've got.

Merry Christmas Jimmy!

Jimmy DVDs

Crazy question. Is there one site better than others to buy Jimmy's DVDs? I want to make sure he gets paid. I have most of his DVDs, and VHS stuff as well. It's great instruction! It would be great if I can help him, and help some friends out with some cool Christmas gifts at the same time. I would rather buy direct from him if possible. Thanks in advance for the help...
