For those of you in or visiting Northern California....

The former Edgie's Billiards in Milpitas has been remodeled and has just opened as Jimmy's. It features roughly a dozen each of 7- and 9-foot Diamonds and five Platin heated carom billiard tables. They have a monthly membership and a 3-cushion tournament on Fridays. More info after I visit.

I wish they kept the gaffe GCs. I felt like a hero when I could run 4 balls there

Let me know when you're visiting the place if you need someone to beat up on

Just curious: was the former place closed a long while before the new business opened?
The owners of Edgie's, who had worked at the original California Billiards into the 1980s, decided to retire when Covid came along. It was closed for a long time. From what I've heard, the interior is completely remodeled with no raised section and a much better kitchen. I think all of the tables are brand new. The previous carom tables were Chevillottes and I think there were no Diamonds or at least there were none the last time I played at the old place.

Alleuliah……Could not be better timed and so unique….. 3 cushion…….finally, a parlor
recognizes and promotes a game that has been seemingly neglected and overlooked
for decades. And a club membership to boot and 9’ tables makes me want to relocate.
The food menu isn’t overdone and looks fine. Some places later even add oven pizzas
since there seems to be a plethora of very compact portable pizza ovens available today.

why didnt they keep the same name it was recognized all over. if you went near there you just googled edgies and it took you there.
i guess its ego having your own name on the door. but not good business most times.

those were great billiard tables. all the billiard tables were full every day why change it.
i never heard of palatin. what the heck are they.

Looks like a pretty good menu...except for serving samosas with cocktail sauce lol.

Buffalo Billiards in Norcal is proving that poolhalls can still thrive today. Waiting list for tables, killing it on beer and food sales. 30 players for the Saturday nine ball tourney the last couple of weeks too.

Good luck to the new owners. I'll try and get down there at some point and maybe play some 3-C.

Palatin is a pro-level brand.

Some of the umb world cup events were (are?) played on them.

Ankara, Turkey...perhaps?

It’s in a generic looking suburban office park - not your usual pool hall location.

California Billiards was hopping last time I went there on a Saturday so I assume these folks should be able to do well.

For that reason the joint is going to draw people after work and the area it’s located is crowded with occupied
office space. I’d try to set up corporate leagues for similar businesses like accounting and law firms, designers,
engineers, communications, etc. This is an upscale pool room and it should draw lots of suits and ties after work.

Well out of curiosity I drove down there this afternoon (about 30 minutes from where I live) and poked my nose in the joint to see what it looked like. Very impressive, very big although not that much bigger than the former Edgie’s as I recall. It’s in an office park so there’s plenty of parking available, and being new there’s still a lot to be done. I have every reason to believe that is will turn out to be successful. Given that it’s in the same location as the former Edgie’s it has the advantace of people already aware that it’s a billiiard room. Good luck to them!

Contrary to popular opinion, a modern poolroom can still be a very successful business. If I was younger I would open another one. My last room provided me with a 25-30K monthly income. Not wealth by any means but still a good living, even in California.
