This is a stretch... JJ had time to play the shot. He choose not to even bother getting back down. If I was to hazard a guess. I'd say once he heard the shot clock he thought he had an argument to further extend his time at the table, so didn't want to risk a hurried shot.In this example Jeremy essentially forfeited his turn and the ref let him.
