I forgot what I replied to, but by sticking up for teammates, do you mean by yelling at the sky or by disregarding rules in your own favor?

I watched the highlights and there was plenty of crowd noise when both sides shot.

Your second paragraph is full or wrong, as well. Earl would not have been effective in any attempt to 'shit that crap down' and like it or not, the error by Cap'n Jones was a foul and the repercussions appropriate.
I stand corrected and fully believe Earl CAN 'shit that crap down'.

Biggest Brain Fart by Mr. Jones ever.... I would pay anything to be the first one to ask him during a live feed..." So Jeremy tell us WTF was going on in that head of yours?"

Talking about Higgins? He was invited to a hotel room for a meeting under false guises. Once he got there, you could tell he was uncomfortable. There’s video footage. He talks in hypotheticals never really agreeing to do anything. He has no idea who these people are. Gangsters? Bookies? He gets out of there. They turn out to be journalists trying to hook him for match fixing. He never actually threw any matches. No evidence was found of him fixing matches, but he was punished for not immediately coming forward to the WST to disclose the meeting.

The problem with that is the video in which Higgins enthusiastically describes how he could pull it off. The Ukrainian said you can't just miss balls can you and Higgins said "yea you can". He looked far from uncomfortable. He was wondering how he would get paid.

This same outfit ran the U S Open and called a shot clock violation on Shane Van Boening despite the fact he had an extension and can't hear the beeping warning because he is deaf. I don't remember seeing them call any asinine fouls on their own players.

Yeah, Higgins being one of my favorite players had distorted my memory of that video slightly. However, there’s a still a difference between being caught on camera talking about doing something in the future, even if they weren’t journalists, and actually doing it. Also:

He was fined near 100k pounds and suspended for 6 months. His manager, who organised the whole thing, was banned for life. It’s also not Matchroom that handled his case.

Come on man, you can’t ignore the rules because someone is deaf. You may also have noticed during the MC that SVB was able to hear Skyler talking to him over the noise of the crowd, while Skyler’s back was turned to SVB. His hearing aids clearly work when they are turned on.

Trust me, if MR handled pool the same way they handle snooker, a bunch of US players would have been banned/fined a long time ago.

You saw the same thing I saw. Higgins was on board all the way! He was even asking how best to launder the money because he wanted it all in cash!

That’s always been my opinion.

BH letting him off was a bigger fix!!!!!

The investigative report said they had ALL the video not just the parts edited for broadcast. They said it was apparent based on ALL the evidence that Higgins was sandbagged, and was CLEARLY trying to extricate himself from a threat.

Hence Higgins penalty for not reporting the approach, but no penalty for match fixing.

That's key here. All the evidence.

Right after JJ was told by the ref that he made a time foul, he walked to his team and then to the ref table (maybe to verify or something). The camera followed him closely walking out of the arena. Did anyone else think at that point for a brief moment that he was storming out the door and back to his hotel?
Yes, I thought he was leaving. 😩

Wow, this thread went sideways.

One thing this occurrence reiterated to me was my dislike of Jason Shaw. I've always thought he lacked sportsmanship. But recently I've started to doubt myself. Maybe it's just me? Maybe there's something I'm not seeing? He could after all be a decent guy. And his actions on day 4 spoke volumes. Not sure if any of you guys saw it too.

After Jeremy Jones had the ball cleaned and ran out of time, the very next day Jason Shaw asked for the ball to be cleaned in his rack then called an extension and proceeded to play as a giant middle finger to the US team. Way to rub it in and be a dick. He always has to make it personal.

I have always thought he acted to cocky and smug.

He can play with all the big boys, but he his attitude puts me off.

And, I need a translator when I listen to him talking.

It sounds like he is speaking through an echo chamber with a mouth full of marbles.

A couple of random thoughts:

1. People are saying Jeremy didn’t hear the clock, but he definitely heard it. It’s what started him asking the ref why the clock wasn’t stopped. They were talking about it before the time foul was called.

2. Someone mentioned in the other thread that Jeremy’s hands were sweating. If you see the video, he got down to shoot, and then with around 12 sec left he got up and asked for the ball to be cleaned. He went over and dried off his hands, and you can see the wet spot on the rail where he had his bridge hand. He was clearly doing it to get a little extension and dry off his hands. Nothing wrong with that, it’s not cheating, it’s just not the rule…

3. What is it with people and these conspiracy theories (they were out to get Earl, or Jeremy) or complaints of unfairness (Shaw asked for a bug to be removed from the ball and he got extra time!), not to mention calls to quit and go home, both when Earl got taken out and now with this. WTF is wrong with people that their first instinct is to go to this nonsense. It sucks, he made a mistake, it happens, that’s it. No reason to come up with BS to try to defend it.
This is the world we live in, everything is someone else's fault.
