Joe Rogan should color comentate pool!

Everyone knows that pool's having a tough time right now. I think it needs someone with great energy and knowledge of the game to sort of spike things up again. He has a huge fan base, especially with his podcast (which is usually ranked #1 or #2).

Just a thought!

Please discuss.

(Just realized I spelt commentate wrong!)

I listen to Joe's podcast everyday and love it. If you read this Joe thank you.

My only suggestion is that he should talk about pool more often on his podcast.

He would certainly add a lot of color to pool commentary if he should ever decide to do it. I doubt the pool world can afford him though. He should definately do commentary for the Mosconi cup when it is on US soil.

It would be cool if he could do a TAR match, I am sure he will one day if he is free, I am sure the guy does not have too much free time with a schedule that probably has him all over the country. He does great for the UFC and will be great for pool also as he has knowledge of both. When he started out with UFC I was like, this guy is a comedian, why is he commentating, wtf does he know about MMA?, he knows a great deal that is for sure.

He has practiced the martial arts since childhood. He knows a lot about MMA.

He probably is way too busy to commentate for pool between the UFC, standup, Fear Factor, the podcast, and being a husband and father. He is a busy man.

Exactly what I said, but I do believe one day he will do an hour or two at the TAR studio. ;)

Aloha,

Now that he and D. White are working for Fox, you never know, if he would put the bug of something pool related into there ears of Fox, what might happen.

Joe is way to busy and pool could not pay him enough for his time to do a stream.

But it would be fun.

He is great. Here's to hoping Justin could coerce (sp?) him into the booth for an hour or two. Hey TAR, with schmidty heading west again what's the odds he could be in the booth again? He's absolutely hilarious and very knowledgeable.

I would like to see someone like Dana get into pool also, look what he did for the UFC, he bought a struggling company and turned it into a Billion dollar business, He is really close to Joe so maybe they could come up with a pro tour and he has the money to make it work, maybe I'm just dreaming but you never know what the right people could do for pool.

Would be nice. Big difference though, more people are interested in hand to hand combat than playing a game (as much as I love playing this game).

Got to keeps it real yo.

He loves to talk about himself especially on his joerogan forum.

In my book he ain't paid his dues in pool to commentate. Because he can hold a stick and does an Earl impression, doesn't make him some kind of commentator for pool.

The guy rarely comes in here anyway.

The guy rarely post but he checks out the forum for sure and I bet atleast once a week he is browsing the forum. I would rate his playing speed at a B level which is probably is better then 95% of the people playing pool out there. His commentary in UFC is never about himself, he is knowledgeable of the fighters and MMA, I am sure he knows the players and the game of pool just as well.

Dennis Miller on Monday night came to mind when I first read this but in thinking about it Joe might do quite well as a guest commentator on a tar match.... Maybe the Earl Shane rematch LOL

I have often thought the same thing. If we ever got an official professional tour and had 2 color commentators that became the official commentators then Joe is one of them that I would like to see. The other would have to be a older seasoned pool player, but not super old, in the 50's or so and someone who has some charisma and fan appeal. Billy was awesome, but he is getting up there now and seems to not quite have the energy to take on such a commitment anymore. Mike Sigel would be a reasonably decent prospect, he has gobs of knowledge and seems to not be all that interested in actually "playing" pro pool anymore.

So have I not paid my dues either, I have done plenty of commentary.

Mike Sigel from watching the IPT commentary was not so great, talk about full of himself, biggest ego in pool I think. :grin-square:

What do you think is paying your does anyway. I know plenty of guys who can't play much at all but are great behind the mic. You may know how to talk about something but executing is a different story.

He might play well off Rogan though, think Don Cherry and his antics and high opinion of himself. Rogan would be the more laid back side that just smirks at Mike at times and goes along humoring him.

In truth though, I have a hard time thinking of anyone in that 50 or so age range. Allen Hopkins maybe? Never heard him commentate, kinda lacks charisma from anything I have seen him in. A 50 year old Miz would have been PERFECT alongside Rogan, but we don't have anyone at all like that these days. Perhaps CJ Wiley actually, he was the right type of personality and does not actually play much himself these days.
