Joe Tucker's Racking Secrets and a question.

So last night I had league (8 ball). We were the away team so I only got to break twice. With my two breaks I had amazing results.

1. My opponent racked the balls and I was standing there waiting for him to finish to shake hands and say good luck. When he lifted the rack I saw a tiny gap between the 6 and the 8. I took position on the opposite side of the gap and SNAPPED THE 8! It was such a great feeling.

2. I did the same thing as the first rack and was able to check the rack while shaking hands and wishing good luck. I saw the same gap and did the same thing. The 8 went towards the side pocket but hit just below it and came back out towards the middle of the table. I made a stripe and a solid on the break. I proceeded to run out.

So on my two breaks I had an 8 ball break and a break and run. In my mind the book has already paid for itself.

Joe I can't thank you enough and I can't believe I didn't but this DVD sooner.

So much for that 8 rating....(straight to 9) ;)

It was just amazing to me. I watched the DVD one time and had immediate results. Well worth it.

At a recent rack your own tournament , I watched a guy send the 9 Ball toward the left corner pocket FIVE TIMES IN A ROW and make it TWICE and the opponent just sat there like a fool.

Properly racked, the 9 Ball CAN'T move much without being kicked so the racker probably just kept using advice that I assume is in Joe T's DVD as to where to leave gaps to guarantee 9 Ball movement.

Haven't gotten the DVD yet but will soon.

Regards,
Jim

Some of the Northeast regional tours have gone to rack you own but the 9 in the bottom two pockets is not a win on the break.

This isn't just the best way for me it is the ONLY way.

I played a stranger on a loose brunswick, all the shimmed tables were in tournament use. After watching him make ball after ball on the break and me coming up dry while racking fore each other, I started checking/complaining about his racks. He was racking very low on the spot. He was a 1 set winner in 7 sets. I offered to play much higher, but rack your own. He declined because he didn't like rack your own. Tells you something. In 9 ball the rack is a huge factor.

Playing in a RACK YOUR OWN Tournament is OK & can be great. Since the release of Joe's book, does in fact give the player a good insight into the "goings on" of a Rack, I would think there would be a great deal of "checking racks".

However, how many players ever read a book?

Joe has Masterminded the Break Shot, into a powerful way to get the edge in competition play. After a ball is made & position (or semi-position) on the next ball is attained, if you leave the table & your opponent has a shot... SHAME ON YOU..!

Actually the rack checking is really down under this format. The way I look at it, it is much easier to give opponent a bad rack then it is to give yourself the perfect rack.

If I am playing rack your own and my opponent is messing with the rack for a long time, with minor little ball adjustments, I may have to complain. Otherwise he is just trying to get them tight.

All of these considerations is why alot like to play 10-ball or play on tight equipment. To me the easier the table the bigger the break advantage.

Even though it lowers the value of Racking Secrets I do recommend 10 Ball in the DVD and everywhere else I post! Its better for our sport.

Thanks for all the recommendations and I did recieve a few extra orders because of them!

I think you're on to something re. 10ball. I see more of it being played locally-tournaments, action, ring games. OFF TOPIC: That cross side shot is sick!! I have tied it several sessions and can only get it with in 1/14 diamond of the side. Do you make it without using the butcher block thing? I have the secrets DVD- thanks- great stuff and BIG THANKS for sharing-so many don't/won't.

I hardly think playing 10-Ball will lower the value of Joe T's "Racking Secrets", especially since the info touches just about all the games we play.

Can make the cross side shot but tables and balls do matter. At VF I couldn't make it on brand new cloth with clean balls. I could get it to reverse but it never had the legs. Some rails aren't lined up properly either and that'll drive you nuts if you don't notice it till you're an hr deep and ready to break something. Older cloth, dirty balls and a little humidity all help. To do it without the lasers is much tougher because of the aim part. The laser allows me to consistently aim very close to the exact spot over and over (its about a 1/3 ball to the inside, I keep the laser on the inside of a stripe on striped ball), thats how I ended up with that 3 out 4, even blew my mind. We owe it to Vernon Elliot who I believe was inducted into this years 1P Hall of Fame. Another pro showed me the cross corner a few years ago (can't knock his action) and I had forgotten about it till talk of the VE shot came up in conversation here last year.

Thanks, Joe!

After hearing about the video during APA regionals a little bit back, I ended up picking it up today while I went in to drop off my new Z2 shaft (rattling problem). I'm watching it as I type this (and you just mentioned the Z shaft during the straight pool break) and I can't wait to go out and try the 9-ball breaking.

I switched to the Z2 also. I love it, I can smack a straight in shot and squat the cb there spinning like crazy.

I didn't mention this earlier, but I ordered the DVD a few months ago and indeed it does rock and the instant results Bval described certainly can happen if you pay attention.

The info on the DVD is priceless. But really what I liked about it most was here was this guy talking about the details of a rack who was more crazy about pool than I was. I was chuckling so much during the first 10 minutes I had to restart the thing. The energy and enthusiasm of the presentation is seriously cool and will make anyone want to get out and put the stuff to the test right away! :D

Awsome DVD Joe!

You just made me chuckle out loud! Thinking what kind of nuts we both must be.

Yes, about 1-1/2 years ago that (VE's shot) x-side video of yours was around(b-4 the laser deal) and it blew my mind. A bunch of us were trying it-but never got there. These guys still think it can't be done-especially moved down the rail a ball or two. Awsome. Thanks.
