Joey,
My sincerest sympathies are with you at this time of loss. As with most things in life, this too shall pass, as time heals all wounds. You have many friends here at AZB that share your pain and wish you the very best in the future. You are not alone and many here have faced a similar loss. Some have suffered even more.
your pal,
Doug
( I'm here for you pal, as always )

I'm certain that others will offer their condolences also.

It may be too soon for Joey A. to talk about it. Let's allow him some time to grieve. I read about it on another board.
Doug

Hope everything is okay with him. It is hard to offer goodwill and/or wishes when you don't know what's going on.

Whatever happend, although it is none of my business, this is a great forum with many compassionate people to offer condolences, or discuss it with

Got it. JoeyA is a survivor. Anyone who endured the hardships of Katrina will be able to get through these hard times as well.

My best to JoeyA! :)

I agree. It is a dark day in the Aguzin household, but I'm certain that WE can help Joey through this trying period. I can tell by his lack of participation in the forums these past two days, that he is in recovery.
Doug
( I guess I'll just go ahead and tell what I read somewhere else. My poor pal Joey not only came in 14th in the big tournament played at his 'home room', but he went on to come out on the short end of TWO 500 jellybean sets. Like Johnny Cash, my wife and I have been dressed in black these past two days while mourning Joey's loss. I know Joey well and I'm worried about him at present. I hope that he doesn't do anything drastic. I'm thinking INTERVENTION...... imo )

Edited to add: maybe an AZB collection will be necessary (or an Auction.... or a Poll )

I met Joey last week at Buffalo's. Shot a few racks with him. Good guy and an excellent shot.

Avatar de jeur ? :) That reminds me of soup de jour, which made me HUNGRY. I guess it would be alright to go ahead and eat while mourning Joey's loss.

I Hope That He Hasn't Hurt Himself (or running with sharp objects in his hand)

Hmmmm, I wonder if Joey A. will put all his 'pool stuff' up on e-bay...
Doug
( he might take up Poker and I'll have a running buddy......... road trip ? )

Edited to add: It seems that Hooters has heard about Joey's bad fortune (excuse the pun) and is offering a "Special" on 50 hot wings, with Free celery & blue cheese...... being a smart shopper, I ordered TWO of the 'specials'. :)

I remember one time I got myself involved in a head-to-head Tonk game with a gentleman.

He came to my house poker game with a "friend" of mine. The poker game concluded, and this guy challenged me heads-up in the game of Tonk.

Back then, I was a pretty good Tonk player and so I bit his kind proposition. The game went forth, and before I knew it, I was stuck a couple dimes. This was a foreign feeling for me to be stuck a couple dimes at that time, and I began to feel sick to my stomach, but I couldn't quit, being stuck so much.

And then it happened. I noticed the guy had SIX cards in his hand instead of FIVE. I looked at his hand long and hard to make sure, and then I confronted him, stating, "I want to count the cards in the deck."

All of a sudden, I heard a small noise as he dropped a card to the floor, and then I knew I had been had. It was the most money I ever lost on my own, and I won't ever forget it. It took me a long time to recover, more so emotionally than financially.

Paybacks are hell, and I did get my revenge against the so-called "friend" who brought this gentleman to my house game, but that is the topic for another thread! ;)

JAM,

If I caught him cheating, he ain't walking out with my money, and that's a FACT, jack!

(Come to think of it, he might not "walk" out at all..)

For once I agree with Short Bus Russ. There's always room in a short bus to hide a body....

( btw, there's no such thing as 'a few DIMES'.... imo ) :)

Very clever starting this thread the way you did ..I think all of us here thought something had happened to one of his loved ones or something ..Kudos to you smorgass Bored ..

I kind of understand why it was such a "loss" for him ..Joey is known around New Orleans as an "N" word(and it's not a racial slur) and I say that with all due respect to him because he is typically a very careful gambler..So for him to lose almost a dime is a shocking loss! He usually books winners.

I was'nt there, but I heard that the guy Joey was playing was really stronger than the line Joey had on him ..I'm not saying Joey was chopped up(once again I don't know I wasn't there)..But it would not surprise me with a few of those guys.

Joey will be alright ..I book way more losers than he does ..and I always feel a great "loss":) :)

Reminds me of a tonk game I was in...

I lost about 40 or 50 to a guy. Then I noticed how he was not shuffling the deck. I kept grabbing the cards when it was my turn to deal and shuffling the crap out of them. He quit on me then.

Joker was setting the deck. Lesson learned.

And when I do meet you JAM, I want a tonk game with you, for maybe a soda pop.
