I am going to be doing just that as soon as I personally see a cue that is in progress. This cue will be a simple Hoppe player and when I spoke to John he was ready for that challenge. I am looking at something of a step above if John is not ready just yet.Charlie Edwards said:Why not just let John Davis build the whole cue? Then it would be a Davis cue. It seems to me that a cue, build by a cuemaker using another cuemakers' blank, wouldn't have the identity of either. JMO. That's why I ordered one directly from John...and it is very close to being finished.
Awesome looking cue.wizardnblue said:Hi, I had my Davis blank finished by a top cuemaker and have talked to other cuemakers also, I paid what the cuemakers normal cost minus what he would charge for making the blank. One thing I have to say about John Davis blanks is, and I'm no cuemaker, the cuemaker I chose said that the blank was fabulous. Another cuemaker I spoke to said that he would finish the cue for around 1700 but he would not sign it or use his top grade shafts for it either, so I chose not to go with him.
Which is exactly what I'm contemplating....KekeCharlie Edwards said:Why not just let John Davis build the whole cue? Then it would be a Davis cue. The prices may be going up but my blank was delivered before the New Year and was still priced at $350 directly from John Davis. Great work and will be shopping around for a cuemaster to finish it off for me while at VF.poohkiller said:The Davis blank new cost somewhere in between $400-450. On that very page which is posted on TATE's site you may find Davis' contact information.
Also, you may find a few AZ members who might have one or two for sale but you should ask for it as I haven't seen one up for sale in a particular FS thread.
