John Davis Blanks (Burton Spain)

Why not just let John Davis build the whole cue? Then it would be a Davis cue. It seems to me that a cue, build by a cuemaker using another cuemakers' blank, wouldn't have the identity of either. JMO. That's why I ordered one directly from John...and it is very close to being finished.
I am going to be doing just that as soon as I personally see a cue that is in progress. This cue will be a simple Hoppe player and when I spoke to John he was ready for that challenge. I am looking at something of a step above if John is not ready just yet.

I have to disagree a little, I think a Balabuska cue is still a Balabuska cue whether the blank was a titlist, or a Spain (which Mr. Davis made quite a few of), or any other blank.

Hi, I had my Davis blank finished by a top cuemaker and have talked to other cuemakers also, I paid what the cuemakers normal cost minus what he would charge for making the blank. One thing I have to say about John Davis blanks is, and I'm no cuemaker, the cuemaker I chose said that the blank was fabulous. Another cuemaker I spoke to said that he would finish the cue for around 1700 but he would not sign it or use his top grade shafts for it either, so I chose not to go with him.
Awesome looking cue.
Would you let me know (via PM is fine) on who completed this one.

Which is exactly what I'm contemplating....Keke:D

Does Mr. Davis have a logo on his finished cues? What would a finished cue by Mr. Davis be worth in todays market?

More Pictures Coming Soon

Keep an eye out next week for more pictures of a completed John Davis blank. Paul Drexler is supposed to be delivering to me on Sunday my completed blank complete with veneered black lip mother of pearl wedge. Thats it just a wedge, the rest of the talking will have to be done by the blank itself. It's ebony into maple with white/black/red/black veneers from inside to out. Of course the veneers will be reversed around the wedge in the ebony butt sleeve to get the white back against the ebony, and the black against the BLMOP.

If all goes well, look for pics early next week.

Sound Real Nice///

can you PM me the damage for that conversion...what kind of joint did Pauly use?

Thanks Greg - looking forward to seeing what John's cues look like, not what someone else's cue with a Davis blank looks like.

John Davis Cues

John asked me to let everyone know that he will have some cues out shortly. He is still deciding on the various factors that will make up John's cues. Please remember that the cues that Greg will eventually post pics of are still for the moment prototypes. John hopes to get some cue out in the very near future that he will consider fully finished products.

Does Mr. Davis mark his cues in any way? What would a John Davis cue sell for on the open market?

wow those are some nice sexi looking baby's there..would love to have my hand on one of those..really like to have one cue on my own design and stuff..wonder how much you guys would charge me on them

The Davis blank new cost somewhere in between $400-450. On that very page which is posted on TATE's site you may find Davis' contact information.

Also, you may find a few AZ members who might have one or two for sale but you should ask for it as I haven't seen one up for sale in a particular FS thread.

The prices may be going up but my blank was delivered before the New Year and was still priced at $350 directly from John Davis. Great work and will be shopping around for a cuemaster to finish it off for me while at VF.
