just add ivory!

I just received 3 of them this week from John. I was a little skeptical (based mainly on what I had read here on AZB) until I examined them and toned them. Took them out to the cuemakers shop where I help out and had him check them out too. I'm very happy with the blanks I received. No notable glue voids. Points are straight. The tone ranges from very good to crazy good. Looking forward to turning them into cues by the end of the year. I'll take photos if I get time this weekend.

I've got an Davis Front - Ebony- with BE,green, orange and black veneers, into Tulip wood. It would be sweet to get SW to do it. I know Laure Franklin, loves tulip wood Cues. Richard Black in Reality is who will Most likely be doing it. Should be great Player !!!! Mark

John Davis

I bought a few from John a couple of years ago. Ed Young has one of them. Frank "Sailor" Stellman has the other, although I am afraid his cue making days may be coming to an end.

I also picked up 2 Alex Brick/Davis cues, 2 Scott Gracio/Davis cues and one Corsair/Davis cue which can be seen in my signature.

I would like to get Bobby Hunter to work on one if he gets his shop back up and running. We shall see.

Nice blanks.

What are you doing on the computer so late?

I have a triangle with your name on it. Literally.

Just got the email today, my blank is done and on it's way. Only took a little over 6 weeks or so from first email  Will be making a Bushka tribute so ordered straight grain maple, shorter points and traditional ebony with natural, green, orange, black veneer. Great to deal with John Davis ;)

Can't wait to see the Blank.

I also perfer shorter points so they don't end up so close to the joint. I know I'm the minority here, but I also dont really like SEEING the bottoms of the points if the cue has a wrap.

As you wanted to see. John Davis blank with points lower in the maple forearm. I told him I wanted it to look like the "old days" and that's what I got lol... Perfect job!

fly do you have a caliper? can you tell me joint dia and maybe the dia at your 12'' mark where the points meet?

Well the blank is of a larger diameter atm. It has to be turned down over time. But I do not have a caliper :frown: I got a friend that has one I can borrow if you are just curious as to what it is now.

sweet Davis!

looks like a classic to me!
Tim Prince ( prince cues ) is working on a few Davis specials at
this time. Hope to see some pics soon.....DSCN1081.JPG

all Davis blanks
made in Chicago!

Beautiful! My avitar is a John Davis cue, completely made by John. It's a major player, tulip into ebony with ivory joint. A pleasure dealing with John in every way.
:p
