John Davis Full Spliced Bank built Cues

Here's a conversion I built. It's kingwood into maple, ivory joint with delrin butt cap.

PFD Completed John Davis Blank

Paul finished up this ebony into maple blank with a black-lip mother of pearl wedge with veneers matching the front, a radial pin, phenolic joint with stainless sleeve, and a black kangaroo leather wrap.

Jerry Rauenzahn did this conversion of a full splice davis blank. Great cue. Thanks to Golfparent for the photos. I have yet to take my own.

That is one clean conversion, ringwork and point height is dead perfect. No silly inlays either, god I hate it when needless trimming ruins an otherwise nice cue...

Everytime I see Jerry's work it just reinforces the fact that I made a wise decision to get on his list.

Very nice cue.

Here's a pic of my Blackcreek. Leopardwood into maple. Ivory joint, hoppe ring, and ferrules:

Chris Byrne conversion

Heres one in the works by Colorado cue maker Chris Byrne. The cue is not very far from being sprayed. Chris, and I decided it would be a good idea to cap the Cocobolo butt cap with 1/4 in black phenolic. The joint will be sleeved elforyn, and the wrap will be white with blue spec linen..

2 more Davis blanks that will be converted...The 2 cue builders I have spoken to about the conversions are very busy at the moment, but I feel it will be worth the wait......

These 2 are both made from John Davis blanks. Made by Tony Clifton of Thoroughbred Cues. Tony worked with Bill McDaniel for 20 years, he now makes traditional cues like these in very small numbers. This man is a great cue maker and a great guy.

Si, those are sharp!

How do they play?

They are really really solid mate, plus the shaft wood is something else. Tony clearly understands the mechanics of cue construction. As a real seal of approval, Dennis Searing, John Showman and Ron Haley all commented that the cues were excellent. Can't get any higher praise than that!
