That's a first. I never saw ANYONE improve noticably off a lesson or 2 other than a complete newbie.

What I saw was B players that just quit dogging the out. My experience when I got lessons was he gave me a by the numbers shot routine. Something I could fall back on when I got nervous. What I saw with his students seemed to be similar.

I have no idea how many lessons each got. They all obviously benefitted.

Crack shot. It might be another term for the RAM shot. You do enough crack, you start attempting to execute the RAM shot.

Yeah that’s what I know a crack shot as...someone who is a good shot. I also though maybe a semi-wired shot that still needed to be hit correctly since he says he saw a pro hit the wrong side and miss when correct side was 100%...or maybe he just threw something out there to see people speculate cuz he’s got to be reading these speculations.

I'd like to know, too. I've never heard of such a thing at pool.

two frozen balls with the crack between them poining at a pocket -just hit the first ball on the side opposite the pockt without english and it is dead-when i was taught it that's what it was called.

Sounds like you're describing a dead on carom when 2 balls are frozen as opposed to a combination throw shot, which is what I was thinking he was referring to when using the term crack shot. It's pretty obvious you'd have to hit a certain side of the ball to make the carom shot, which is why I'm thinking he was referring to a combination shot that appears off, but can easily be thrown in if you know which side and how much of that first ball to hit. Surprisingly many higher level rotation players aren't aware of how they can pocket a 2-ball combination that needs to be thrown, whereas virtually all 14.1 and 1-pocket players are very aware of how to execute it.

Nostroke, I'm sorry but I just realized that you were the one who introduced us to the term "crack shot", so I assume you were referring to that being a dead on carom shot when 2 balls are frozen, and not a combination throw shot. At least for myself, I don't really conceptualize the crack between the 2 balls as pointing at a pocket, but rather the perpendicular 90% angle between the 2 balls heading right at the center of a pocket.

That's called a kiss shot. No one I know of calls it a crack shot. Nobody. And it's not a secret. Pretty much every pool instruction book has it. I think you may find the books by Ray Martin and Bob Byrne really amazing.

In the end, you are correct. In my mind i just don't think of frozen balls shots as a 'carom'

I haven't the foggiest idea why you think i need 2 books i have owned for over 25 years. Is it because they dont use the term 'crack shot'? Does that term that i was taught by a still living 80 something fairly well know 1P gambler really bother you so much? I can recommend a few books for you.

I know it is not a secret but i didnt know it until about 30 days into playing when i was taught it. Geez!

I've never heard that term in over 50 years of playing.

pj <- seen some shots that looked like crack was involved...

I beat a crack head out of his Nike's in a set of nine ball years ago, but I've never heard of the term crack shot either. Must be a regional expression.

When they’re lined up for a pocket...and froze...I call them ‘dead kisses’..
...I first read about it in Mosconi’s book when I was a kid....
...I was in a lot of action then and I seemed to be finding them all over the place...
...I felt Willie had given me a great piece of knowledge.
...then I didn’t find one for over 6 months...what a downer...

Someone asked me at a snooker tournament why I was examining the pack pack more
than most players...told him...”I play like a hyena, always looking for something dead.”
...he said “That explains your laugh.”....:angry:
