John Schmidt - DCC ONE POCKET CHAMPION 2009

The rack of the fnal that really impressed me was the one in which John's only shot was the one loose ball to the right hand side of the rack, which looked pretty similar to a standard 14.1 break shot, but the difference was that the cue ball was several feet away from the object ball. John hit this shot very aggressively and very well and ran eight and out in a position from which very few could manage it.

His play was exceptional, and he was a very deserving champion.

Well played, John.

No shock to me John won the 1 pocket. He made most of his money playing 1 pkt on the road and played the best players like Cooney before he even had any knowledge of the game.

Clearly he has been reading my excellent posts and has picked up some tips on how to play the game.

Congrats to John for the big win. If they could figure out a way to change from banks to 14.1 John would have a good chance to win the all around.
they wont banks is a better game.

Nice Job John!! You were definitely not on my radar to win and once again you surprised us all.

I want to give a shout out to Scott Frost as well. He made a statement that he wanted to win the One Pocket and so he stopped drinking and took the tournament seriously. When it gets down to the final two it's gambling and either man can win so I am also glad to see that Scott was able to bear down and get so close to his goal.

Not bad for an aspiring pro-dirt biker and part time pool player John! Congratulations!

Why does he like the OB-2 more than the OB-1?

From what John told me at the US Open, he likes the smaller tip diameter a WHOLE lot better......like being able to put more English on the cue ball with less effort. Same reasons a lot of the pros are going to the small diameter shafts.
