Ive been to all three classes Mark has put on in the Seattle area. I didnt have much to say about the first 2 so I didnt sat much..Today was a little differant we had John "THE TRUTH" Schmidt there.

In fairness we didnt have time to get into deep study of the game, but what we did get was what John felt was the honest truth about the topics we did talk about and along with some things John felt made a change in the way he played the game when he learned them. From the lessons ive took and ive took a few I don think you can ask more from a player/teacher of this game.

Ive always felt the way to learn this game is to go to the pool room prove to a great player you really want to learn the game and they will teach you. I beleave John is one of those guys. you might need to give him some skins but what you will get is a no bullshit lesson from a real/true champion...

I cant speak for anybody eles but I can tell you If John lived closer I would pay for his teachings and I feel confident in saying as long as i had the time to practice what he teaches it wouldnt be long befor it took a good player to like playing me...

What about EARL you ask... Even if you could get past the "if they played on 5x10s Id rob the world" rants, you could practice for the rest of your life and you would never be able to play the game the way Earl plays it..There is, was, and always will only be one EARL STRIKLAND. Hit um high and let them fly man, give um hell EARL your the MAN...

Not supose to give away info from the classes but one thing John said I will share with you is learn every aiming system there is then there is no way you could ever miss a ball...HA HA HA HA....

John Ill send you a pm were to send the check..lol. you guys be safe out there.

The Truth is-

I didn't get a shot in a little race to 5 tournament match about 10 years ago.

I did get 3 trips to the table. Each time was to flail at locked-up-on-a- ball safes.

I became a big fan that day. And I learned that as much a gentleman he was that day-stepping on the throat of the opponent while you have them down is just good play-it removes the crazy luck factor.

Now if I could just be on the 'boot' side of this theory-for once.

John gives great lessons-I was lucky to pay such a small price for valuable information and to watch a great player play.

Good post/semi-bad memories.

Thanks

When did he become "the truth" ?????

I can't answer for Mowem down but since I was in the class with him I think I know what he meant when he called him "the truth" and will take a stab at it.

During the class we discussed many topic that are, IMO, controversial on this forum. I'll just say John "pulls no punches" giving his opinion on them. John dispelled some myths for me and I feel he was sometimes brutally honest in doing so. I was impressed with his candor.

John is an excellent instructor and has gained a new fan (me).
