From Oscar's FACEBOOK YESTERDAY after Johnny called to apologize a couple days before:
"Well folks, all the memes, bad mouthing and BS can stop. I’m a little shocked but I’m finally paid up.
Johnny and I are SQUARE.
Two of my backers will still be getting their cut too just like they bet.
Good luck Johnny on everything and thanks for making me whole.
Guess I’m taking the kids to Disneyland on Johnny.

you do owe interest when late paying a a debt of any sort. the winner could have invested that money and made
great profits off it. he is entitled to that.
a minimum of 6% interest per year. but in reality should get what the s&p went up in that time.
most wont understand that. and would just be happy to get the money owed, even though it is now severely depreciated.
if invested in such it would be worth 2.5 times what he just got . so really is a big loss over getting paid right then.

Johnny Archer posts his "apology". In my opinion there are other ways to make money than screwing over friends who are good and honest people. His family's need is no excuse. He ruined his own legacy to many who previously held him in high regard.

The responsibility was mine, and now it’s fulfilled.
Life has a way of testing all of us. None of us are perfect. We make mistakes, face setbacks, and sometimes fall short. What matters is whether we’re willing to own those mistakes and do what it takes to correct them.
Now that this chapter is closed, my focus remains where it belongs:
my family, my friends, and continuing to give back to the game that has given me so much throughout my life.
To everyone who supported me through the good times and the difficult ones, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don’t take it for granted.

i mean when it's become a meme of sorts it will likely live on.. that's how the internet works.
It’s rare we get a happy (enough) ending in pool.
His original act was a gross example of stealing in my book. That makes him a thief. It should be none of my business and between two men, except this was a publicly advertised and streamed event. So it’s 100% apt for this to play out in the public court of opinion within the industry. He showed very poor handling of it even from his communications. “I did it for my family.” “I’d do it again if it was for my family.” “Only god can judge me.” “Nobody is perfect, it was a mistake.” He may be even on the money with Oscar and they may have made amends which is a positive. But the man torched his reputation with a serious sin (other options were available to him like asking for help) and that toothpaste cannot be put back into the tube. And no, I don’t think all the other pro pool players are angels. But they’ll each get judged on what’s known to be true. And this is known to be true of Johnny. It’s his legacy of his own making.
Like it or not, our sport is based in large part on gambling. Not paying off at the end of a match is a pool felony. In my mind, it can never be undone.
he basically did get paid in full for the debt. but time frame he really got paid 40 cents on the dollar.
oscar might have been very happy to get anything at all, as most would have. and being a great guy accepted graciously with no hard feelings as least his public say.
well at least the thing is over between them and that is good. but if i ever did business with one of them it is obvious which one would it be.
