JossWest Maybe? Replaced Butt Cap

I have been offered this cue, It looks like it may be a Joss West with a replaced butt cap. Anyone have any ideas if it is or isn't or idea of value. If i pick it up it may be for sale. Thx

Unfortunately this is all i have to go on, until i go see it in person. If anyone knows what i should look for when the cue is in my hands please let me know. THx
 
I can't tell if the cue was made by Stroud based solely on these photos but it looks like one of his cues. I'd venture a guess that it is a Josswest with 65-70% confidence.
 
As others have said, looks to be a Josswest. Model 17 from this catalog, I believe.

Did they make any cues without the JW on the buttcap, this one must of been replaced if they did not, any idea on value, I think I am going to pick it up tonight, but not sure what it may be worth without the JW. Thx

I bought one where the buttcap had been replaced and the JW was not on it. I sent it to Bill and he engraved the JW for free. I offered to pay him and he refused. He didn't want money for shipping either.

Once I got the cue, I sent him $50 for doing it and told him not to send the money back.

Compare that to some of the stories you hear about today's cuemakers.

For you, I honestly don't know how you can get it marked, but IMO, it is worth much less without the marking.

A few years ago, in perfect condition I have seen these cues marked $2500. I know I wouldn't give that for it. IMO, is $1000+. This model is a production cue IMO, much like the Gina cues. It isn't a rare cue, but I like it. In 100% condition it really is nice. I pay more for ivory joints and non standard models.

It sold for $415 shipped to MN, I was to late on getting back to the guy, bummer. Thx for all the help everyone, he wanted $650 originally and I couldnt pull the trigger unless I was sure.
