JS Proudly Cheering Fedor's Miss

I was surprised & actually disappointed at the concession, make 'em win. Yeah, it looks like an easy run but as mentioned, closing out a match with the $$ on the line is a a different story. You don't see many golfers concede a 6" putt with a major on the line.
Your point is taken, but you can't concede putts in majors. The guy putting is playing against everyone, not just you.

not his fault, but they need to bring back the visual shot clock. especially considering deaf players such as svb and zielinski
Fedor screwed up several times when the 5 second mark was called out. I don't recall the 5 second mark being called out at other matchroom events, they really need to standardize that and stick to it.

I wish matchroom would do what accu-stats does. Large shot clock timers plainly visible from several views, and "stop" the shot clock when a player gets down over the shot. Unless they get back up, of course.

i kind of like that shot clock as well, until morra or kaci plays and does 8 practice strokes before each shot. i guess every system has its flaws.

Still think the guy screaming 5 sharked Fedor.

Strangely he was absent in the finals.
Yeah, I didnt watch all of the available matches but I saw many of them, that 5 second warning was by far much louder than all of the other warnings. In fact in the last couple of matches I was listening for it and if it was noticeable it was barely perceivable.
It also seemed like many players were getting frazzled by the shot clock for some reason, it was a normal MR shot time, wasn't it? How does the shot clock work anyhow? Does it stop running once the player addresses the ball or does it continue to run until the player hits the cue ball? I would hate to say it but on the tighter pockets it almost seems like they could use a little more time, maybe 35 or even 40 seconds. It seems like a lot of times when a player takes an extension they shoot 5-10 seconds into the extension.

I can say that at the USopen. Table 2 and 3 (streamed but not main for semis and final) used a verbal shot clock. Meaning a secondary ref, with a stopwatch, calling out I think the 10sec mark.

This shouldn't be foreign to the players that frequent MR events

Found this in an email I received from MR prior to the USopen.

if they change to 40 seconds A LOT of players are going to take 40 seconds to shoot. just as if there's no shot clock some players, especially some europeans (sadly), will take forever to shoot. i would rather it went the other direction, but i think 30 seconds is a good compromise.

they should all look at ko ping chung. barely ever bothers the time keeper even with the 10 seconds, nice rhythm without rushing.

I don't mind a concession at the very end. If it's done in the middle of a match, that's another thing entirely. It can be used as a bit of a shark move.

I got no problems with a single warning at the 10 second mark. At 5 seconds though, the ref is almost always going to be announcing in the middle of a player's pausing before their stroke, if not in the middle of the stroke. I don't think a 5 second warning is required.

I agree. 5 sec is dumb and i never seen iy used before.

The automated beeper at 3C is five seconds. They may have gone to just using up a time out on slow shots unless the player has no time out.

I think the snooker shootout is a 5-second beeper as well, but not a verbal call.

It seemed like a lot of players were rushed and moving very fast around the table for anything more than a stop shot, especially on safes. It seems like 5 seconds could have made a big difference, maybe the 5 second call made players feel rushed. Why the 10 and 5 second warning??

I'm ot sure why the change this tournament. They always had a timer that started beeping at 10s and sped up .

Also I've also found Shaw a bit arrogant acting even though way he walks around the table. He may not be that way in person though.

I think that beepers are usually 5 seconds. 10 seconds of beeping would be crazy.

Jayson wasn't celebrating Fedor's miss. If that had been at 5-5 he would have just walked to the table.

He was celebrating getting to the finish line. He had a lot of fans rooting for him in the audience and he was basically giving a high five to people in the crowd that had been supporting him.

None of this is unusual. If he had broke and ran out three racks in a row to win the set and then he celebrated no one would care. I think the question is do normal celebration rules change when your opponent dogs a ball at the end?

I get what you guys are saying. If someone hangs the case 9 ball I wouldn't start cheering. There is a balance between sharing some empathy with your opponent while still acknowledging your fans.

But damn it guys, it's a tricky balance. Jayson was acknowledging the crowd here and he has been very sportsmanlike with Fedor all the time. He is a super hard competitor that has a really positive energy, loves pool, and is one of the warmest pros I've been around.

I think people project a lot of attitude onto him and Filler because they act confidently. I think this is a you guys problem. It's your right to dislike someone for no good reason, but to spew venom on the internet is just trolling. Remember, what you say about someone else says way more about you than it does about them.
