Jump cue recommendation

Hey all, I looked through past threads looking for people's reviews or recommendations on jump cues. Having not owned one for a while, I've been using one again, and instead of borrowing one when I need it I just want to buy one so I have it with me all the time.

I've hit with a few off brands, used to have a Frog back in the day, but lately have been primarily using the Predator Air Jump. I like the Predator just fine, so it would make sense to just buy one, but I've also heard a lot of good things about the Stealth, also a 3-piece jump cue, which I like the concept of. Unfortunately no one I regularly play with has a Stealth or any others I've seen mentioned, and I would hate to buy the Predator and then run into someone with the Stealth or another better cue and realize I like that much better. Of course I could always sell the Predator for a minimal loss if that happened I guess...

Can anyone provide direct comparisons between the two, or between the Air Jump and other popular, inexpensive jump cues? I like the 3-piece aspect of the Air Jump, I can get over a whole ball from about 6 inches or so with the full cue, and probably a ball away with the 2-piece, and can also switch to the 2 piece for various types of shots. I've also noticed that compared to when I used to use a jump cue, the phenolic tip takes some getting used to, has a weird feel to it, and while I can impart some side spin (intentional or not) seems harder to draw the ball back than I could with my old jump cue. I've heard that the Stealth regular tip is good, and saw mention of a White Diamond as well.

Basically I just want a jump cue that's easy to launch (as the Air Jump is), with good control, and more worried about jumps in the 6" - 18" category than the best cue or shaft for 1" - 2" jump shots. Any advice is appreciated...

Thanks,
Scott

I have an airjump, xbreaker and a bunch of other various break/jump and jump cues.

I've not found anything more versatile, accurate or all around useful than my Jacoby jump cue.

The Stealth Air-Time (AT-1) developed by Ned Morris is the most versatile jump cue available. I have been using one for over 4 years.

I have a Varney j/b, a BHQ j/b, and a Players j/b. I also have a Kangaroo, a Lucasi, and a Bunjee jump cues.

I think once you get your stroke right you can use any j/b or jump cue and be good with it.;)

I showed a friend how to jump a few weeks ago, out of all the cues I listed he thought the players j/b(the black one with a phenolic tip) was the best and was jumping balls with it in about ten minutes.

Steve Lomax Jump Cue

Steve makes the best jump cue I have tried by far. I couldn't fathom how a jump cue could be worth more than say 50 dollars or so until I tried this one. Steve's jumpers are a couple hundred dollars but they are the best thing going right now. If someone stole mine tomorrow I would get another without hesitation.

They are the 3 piece design and perform remarkably. I have always been a mediocre jumper at best but after getting this cue I don't dread those shots anymore because I know I am going to get it up and straight. Alright........enough of my testimonial.

i currently use the stealth, had a predator air but sold it. IMO, the stealth is better, thought two are very similar. the leather tip on the stealth makes it a little harder to get the ball up, but has nice control. you can change the tip easily to phenolic or a white diamond which will really make the ball hop. i felt the air handle was too thin, the stealth is a bit thicker and easier to hold. also the matte finish on the air handle was slippery, the stealth has a glossy finish that is grippier. also the air was too light for me, even though light is better for a jump cue. the stealth is still on the light side for a jump cue, but just right for me. i also didn't like the finish on the shaft of the air, it got sticky, i prefer the regular maple shaft on the stealth. the stealth uses 3/8x10 joints which take a little more time to unscrew. the shaft on the stealth is a bit thicker and the taper more aggressive. so those are the main reasons i like the stealth, but both are very good cues

I've tried quite a few jump cues and I'm really happy with my Mezz Air-Shooter (with the older tip and metal ferrule).

I also like the Jumster a lot.

I also have to vote for the stealth. I have tried many jump cues and own quite a few including the predator air. Control with the stealth is the best that I have tried.

Stealth's jumper is pretty damn good. I like it more than the Predator Jumper, which seems pretty overpriced.

The Stealth is a great jump cue and my favorite also, right next to the Air by Predator. The main differences between those two would be taper/handle thickness, tip composition and feel.

The Stealth is thicker overall with a fatter shaft taper, the Air is thinner and will hit harder (therefore jump easier IMO), plus the synthetic material means it will probably wear better over time. I have to check and see if I have the Stealth at home still and so you can put them side by side to help out your decision.

I have tried everything out there and have to go with this one also (Jacoby) is the best bar none (JMHO)

Anything will jump on a big table but when it comes to a bar box Jacoby is the best. It has won me pleanty of games and got me out of a lot of safe's. See if you can fine one and try it. You will like it i am sure. Good luck

I've used a lot, and I think of the pure jump cues, the Stealth is the easiest I've used for jumping. I've tried their J/B cue, and it didn't jump nearly as well. That was at the BCA nationals last month, and the guys there said there was something wrong with the tip, but who knows.

If you wanted a cheaper alternative, you could always try a white diamond tip on whatever you are currently using. Those work great for breaking and jumping; I like mine much more than phenolic.

U like this better than that Jumpin Jack that you were using for a while?

Jacoby Jumper is the best for me.
I bought mine and gave it for a test drive to some friends, next day I had to order 7 more jumpers and 5 of them was already prepaid.. Most of them already had J/B cues or jump cues or both that says how good the Jacoby is.

For me the Stealth is the way to go. The flexibility to have a long or short jump cue depending on the shot for me is the key. The only problem I have is I have to take the butt apart to fit it in my case's long pocket.

I have been using a Predator Air for about 6 months after selling my X-Breaker to a friend. I like the control it gives me. I switched to the White Diamond tip 2 weeks ago and the difference is amazing. I also use the White Diamond on my BK2. They are well worth the money.
