A video for all pool players and fans!

Much thanks for looking! Link is here, friends!

He's not as good as some of the posters on here on the AZ claim to be, that's for sure.

People tend to put him on an "unbeatable" level, which isn't true. What is true is he's played at the highest level, for the longest period of time than any human being.

were have you been?

i'm not sure what you mean by that comment. I hope your not saying Efren is not deserving of any and all credit bestowed upon him. If that is your stance, then i respectively ask name someone past or present that has done it better!

Maybe this is where my ignorance on the hisory of pool comes through, but looking back at tournament play, doesn't Earl have more titles? Maybe even Mike Sigel? I know he won some but he must have made more of a name by winning money matches than titles. How much has he won in the last 4 or more years (not counting the IPT FLOP)? Maybe he just doesn't play in as many as others and that is why I dont hear of him winning as much. I AM NOW WAY BASHING HIM. HE IS CERTAINLY CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST EVER. I CAN ONLY DREAM OF ATTAINING HIS LEVEL OF PLAY. I am just adding my .02 for what little it may count for. If it is that obvious please don't flame me, but I would like to know as well. From what I hear he is a pretty feared $$$ player or he was. Maybe he should in the next Action Challenge with Shane.

I would like to see Efren in an Action Challenge with Shane before Efren gets much older. I think Shane has the advantage at this point. Pool always goes through streaks with the best players. I think Efren is considered the best based on the different games he always played great at. When you can dominate pretty much all the games, that speaks wonders.

I think there was a period in which Mike Sigel was pretty dominant. I have heard from top pros that there wasn't a shot he felt that he couldn't make.

I am hoping Shane can stay on top for a while and hopefully advertise the good behind pool.

The reason that "Bata" don't win tournament that match because of his conditions... before the IPT he has to see the eye doctor and had a eye operation...look what happen he won the IPT ....now he has another health problem..but still he still winning some matches....I guess the reason that reyes don't win major tournament such Earl or Siegel because every opponent that reyes played w/ .....played their best because its once in a lifetime to play with ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYER WHO PLAYED THE GAME....

You are right about Sigel and Strickland. They both have more titles then Efren, but he can't be too far behind them. The big difference between Efren and Earl though, is Efren's all around greatness at all the games. Sigel played many different games great! Of course Strickland can play all games too, but Efren is about tops in every game. Best one-pocket player, best eight-ball player, one of the elite nine-ball players. With the break meaning so much is top level nine-ball, that is why Efren didn't win as much as Strickland and Sigel. Of course he has won his fair share, but just imagine if the break didn't way so much in nine-ball- Who would bet against him?

I would think Irving Crane might hold that distinction.

Couple of more things. Efren is getting older, and anyone is going to have a harder time, the older they get. However, he still seems to be playing 1-hole pretty good! Also, he didn't come to the states until he was in his 30's, and even he says his best years were when he was 19-20 years old. Strickland and Sigel deserve all the credit they get, but I don't think you can compare Efren to these two compared on tournament wins.

Tournament-wise, Efren is not in the top of the list. But he seems to win a ton of the highest payday items. It's almost like he just hangs out untill he picks a place to win. IPT is one, and the $100,000 Hong Kong challenge, which was probably the best 9-ball ever played in the modern era (not just by Efren but by Earl as well). The comeback he staged against Earl in the last tape is something to see.
edit - as to who is really the "best", every pro player poll I have seen (such as the ones BD puts out), the players themselves pick Rayes as best all-around player on the planet. Mike Seigel is up there as well, but from how he acts, he is turning more and more into "Minisota Fats". Every time he's on camera he is telling people "winning record against so and so, no-one beats me in the finals, I'm everyone's idol".

Didn't Efren win the Japan Open it's first year with the biggest prize at the time?

Yeah, if he ever shows up here for a tournament I'm pretty sure I could take him.

I could take him back too. I probably wouldn't even ask him for the fare.

Ok people...are hearing what you are saying? MiKe Siegel: Huge player....collapsed after 50 years old... Earl Strickland: Huge player....Where is he now?... Nick Varner: Huge player... no news as well... My point is that these 3 american players, among many others great players of history, had their cycle and gave to the sport what they had to give: PRESTIGE. Efren Reyes is something else. It is a phenomenon. For 30+ years now, dominates the sport and million of peoples around the globe have been tought playing good pool simply by watching him through videos. And always remember: carom billiards is the father and the mother of pool...whoever plays good carom, he knows how to play pool...the little white spots on table that many of you ignore their existence -the diamonds- play a significant role of how you gonna play excellent pool. Efren Reyes is an excellent carom player as well. Remember that Efren Reyes never touched a jump cue in his life...fancy in billiards is the artistic way of playing, the orthodox playing not jumping like a frog. Like it or not, Efren Reyes is a living legend and noone has the right to say the oppposite. That is what i have to say. I know that american people will hate me but i just wanted to say what i believed...One last thing. I read a post about Earl's father's death. My truly condolenses to him and to his family.
