So I received an eBay message with a BS message and lowball offer from an AZ'er.

He states Mike Stacey cues don't sell for anything and you have to give them away.

Then the guy says I'm overpricing on AZ, and AZ'ers aren't that stupid. Really guy, get a grip. My cues are very well priced and what I price at is MY decision and MY business. I sell higher on eBay due to fees like everyone else and my lowest prices are on AZ.

See photos. $310 offer on $750 cue. I've changed my auto decline anyhow.

I wouldn't worry about it . There will always be lowballers both here and on Ebay.
 
I have items on az billiards and ebay. I get a number of offers that are declined. However, most emails say on ebay why I don't give a discount. Well, you put up a fair price and a number of low balls come in, so for the most part, I just put the list price with a make offer. I figure no matter the price on the item, if someone makes a fair offer, great, a deal will be made. However, being compared to a super store price gets old as I actually try my best to post a good description of what I'm selling. Don't worry about the comment, just add him to your ebay block bidder list and be done with him forever. It's great to work with good people where both parties feel confident in each other. On ebay, I just reply or make contact and offer them a cue in line with their offer or bid. Most folks do not take in effect that you have paid freight, paid sales tax, fees and other costs before presenting something to sell. It would be nice to buy something 10 cents on the dollar and sell for 20 cents on the dollar, but, it just does not work that way. I would just block the bidder on your ebay account, enough said and message delivered to him. Try your best is all you can do. I don't think your price was out of line on your item and even if it was.... so what, it's still your item. Hope all goes well with your sale and you along with someone else hopefully make a good deal that both of you will be happy with. Good Luck
 
I just think people are ridiculous and especially as a fellow AZ'er should be a bit more respectful. Anyhow, no biggie just sharing.
 
I used to sell quite a few cues, but I don't do it as much now.

I do offer a discount to AZers when I have it listed here and on Ebay.

1.) I usually pay all shipping to AZers. On Ebay, I make them pay.

2.) I "wiggle" a little with my brothers on AZ, and on Ebay, I list it with no reserve at my price as a starting point.

Ebay has changed too. I used to list for 7 days, and people would bid for 7 days. Now, nobody bids until the last hour, and sometimes the last minute.

People on craigslist are the same people on other sites, if an offer is insulting I usually just ignore it, sometimes even get a laugh. I had a guy offer me a 1000 gun(retail price, not used) in trade for my bmw m3...he said it was fair because my m3 was from 99. I think some people just send horrible low ball offers to a whole bunch if items figuring eventually some one will bite.I can't tell you how many times I'd respond to a lowball offer saying no thanks and they write back "which car was yours?"
 
When someone makes a disrespectful "low ball offer" on my eBay item,I add them to my "blocked bidder list" and I let them know that now they cannot buy anything from me EVER.If the offer is in the ball park,I may try to work with them,but obvious low ball,or insulting offers get a thumbs down form me.That's a real nice cue and good luck with your sale.

I didn't even know you could add them to a list like that. Great suggestion, I'll start doing that. Probably just for folks that accompany their crap bid with these types of comments as well.

Personally, I'd be embarrassed to offer anyone that kind of a bid.

I always think this when I see your posts! Honestly...I would stop setting the cue on deck screws to take the photos, turns me off right away, makes me think the cue would show up all scratched. May just be in my head, but seems a bad way to display a cue to me.

I spent over 20 years at an Automobile dealership, holding every position on the Sales and Management end. All you should remember what you are talking about here when you go purchase your next car. Some things I learned in the car business.
  1. everyone low balls the dealer
  2. eveyone knows the car business better than the person in it
  3. I could show auction reports, and their vehicle was always worth more than anything
  4. Oh and did I say consumers always low ball the dealer

I learned if someone wanted to low ball, I would shake their hand and say that is a good price, unfortunately it doesn't work on this vehicle. Are you telling me that you would like to find you a vehicle in that price range, maybe something with 20,000 more miles or less equipment.

Had a lady offer me $3000 less for a car because she didn't like leather, figured because she didn't want leather, even though the car had it, she shouldn't have to pay for it.

Like they say in the car business, their is an ass for every seat. If you are sick of their low ball offers here is a good line.

"Sounds like you are looking for a GOOD BUY, well GOOD-BYE"
 
I only do that if it's late in the day and if it's a cue that shows much better in direct sunlight.

However, the deck screws are vinyl coated and the threads are not exposed to the cue. I obviously am careful as well. I usually put them on a canvas drop cloth to take pics. I really wish I had space to make a natural light photo booth area but I live in Florida in a villa, space is a HUGE issue. No issues with this yet.

My issue is there's too much background in the photos. I have a decent amount of background in photography and a lot of tech background (work in ITS for a giant tech company) that I use all of the time.

Funny enough I use my iPhone 5S more than my big Canon DSLR. LOL. Everything syncs between my 5S, iPad, and Mac so it works good.
 
I was in the car biz for over 20 years too.Not only is there,"an ass for every seat"' but "there is always another trolley car" We also had a " Be back list" when a tire kicker said "I'll be back" we used to ask them if they would sign the "be back list" so we would know when they will be back ;)

Sniping has changed the game. I get some great deals that way.
 
Value is relative, it must only be worth $310 to him. With an auction, you hope to find two people that really want your item.

Usually it doesn't hurt to ask, if the seller doesn't like the offer, they can say no. On the other hand, if they are offended, you may not have the option to purchase at any price.

It is a terrible picture regardless. You are selling an $800.00 cue and are not providing pictures that showcase the cue. I have to assume you do have more pictures in your ad that show a little more detail.

It is no problem to make a small portable photo booth with some cardboard or foam-core some fabric and proper lighting. Presentation makes all the difference in selling.

We would turn our phones around, facing them and push the phone towards them. There ya go Pal, ask your wife.

I used to do that at the night clubs ... ask enough women to go home with you and eventually you get a yes. Plus, you get a bunch of free drinks if you can time opening your mouth with them throwing their drink in your face.
