Just think, Shane stayed home

The Mosconi Cup is guaranteed money paid.
The Japan open is not.

When your job consists of playing pool for a living. You do what you have to to make the cash.

Now we are back to "what can I do for me, screw everyone else" attitude. That's what the forums would explode with, rightfully so, if Shane was in Japan instead of the Mosconi cup.

ummm...

Hello, Shane could have played in both, but the team bonding thing was the
reason he didn't go to Japan. I think he should have played in Japan. IMO of coarse. :D

Are you saying that your opinion is a COARSE one??? Of Course!!!!!

Your right..,

For THIS, and gave up his shot in the Japan Open, and possibly becoming the number 1 ranked player in the World.

I wish he would have went to Japan and someone else would have had taken his spot on the team. He cant gain much from this team play, not as much as he would from continuing to elevate his game in international play.

The guys on the USA team are good players, but not up to world class speed and think they kind of hurt Shanes ability to perform.

These guys might all become world class, but they are there yet and we just don't have any players other then SVB that are.

Not sure what happened to Archers or Rodneys game, but they cant seem to bring it on a regular bases anymore?

Playing in Japan would have been better prep for MC for all of the team.

Bonding is not a substitute for matching up against the most elite under high-pressure conditions.

Missing Japan was a mistake and a big one at that!

Lets be clear here- Shane stayed home for kumbaya time. His attendance in Japan WOULD NOT HAVE PRECLUDED his competing during Mosconi Cup.

Some on here obviously have never met Shane or know what kind of guy he is. He is not some selfish guy who only thinks of himself. He has a strong sense of pride for his country and supports those that are helping the sport of pool grow.
Give the guy a break. He looks at the big picture a lot more than some of the idiots sitting behind their keyboards do on this forum.

He isn't new to the game or pressure.

What he needs to figure out is why he doesn't perform as well overseas. That has nothing to do with the Japan Open or team-building. It has to do with his head.

All of you must be really great. You seem to know it all better than anyone else.

This MC isn't over yet. How will SVB be perceived if the USA somehow pulls this off?

Maybe none of you have been in a match and been winning 9-5 and lost.

I don't blame him for not going to Japan. They have so many natural and self made disasters. Screw that!

While financially difficult, I think it would have greatly benefited the entire US squad had we been able to send all 5 to the Japan Open.

Mark Wilson's ethos is the Team comes before the Individual.

True, Shane could have competed in Japan and also in the Mosconi Cup. But, Mark Wilson appointed Shane as Team Captain, and as part of his responsibilities, Shane was urged to practice, coach, and bond with his team mates before they traveled together to England.

Technically, Shane could have competed in both events, but he recognized that his first responsibility was to his Mosconi Cup team and he acted as a true Captain. If you must know one thing about Shane, aside from being perhaps the best player in the world, it is that he is not a selfish person.

Shane has set such high standards and expectations, that whenever he fails to meet those almost impossible goals, he gets blasted on AZ by fans who should know better.

I guess someone on here knows SVB?
Just exactly what is is that makes SVB so uncomfortable traveling?
I follow him on FB and he seems to be enjoying himself on his travels, but he does not manage to transfer to his playing.

Sad

Nothing to do with traveling, he travels a lot. I think he is used to that.
If travel is a problem then how about his performance in last year Mosconi cup (that was in US soil) ??

It's about the right mind set. His body language was not of a winner in that match.

Hopefully, he does better in next match and actually play like the SVB that we all know.

46 matches he has played so far, 26 lost and 21 won. (i just heard it from one of the commentators)
