Hi people, I had a wonderful evening last night, I had supertough draw at European pool championships in 9ball getting Ralf Souquet who had won gold medal in 10ball division earlier this week...to make long story short: I was 2:7 behind in alternate break format but still I have been able to come back and have beaten Ralf 9:8....what an experience!!!! jeez, 60+ people were cheering for me in the stands and after the match everybody wanted to shake my hand and to take picture with me....on the other hand I was soooo psyched-up that I could not fall asleep till 2am and woke up again at 5am....so my morning match at 9am was terrible, could not play my game and lost 4:9 against polish player Karol Skowerski. But I am still in the tournament, I can still go through the losers side with enough sleep. Anyway this EC is successful for me as I achieved my goal to get into the final 32 in straight pool division with some good play from my side....

Who is Ralf Souquet? :D

Just kidding, congrats on the victory, and good luck on the B side!

Do you have a link for that video? I'd love to watch as well. Thanks in advance. :)

Glad to know you.

During your dream, did you ejaculate? JUST KIDDING. You were certainly living a dream of mine that I know will always be a dream. You can brag
all you want about experiences such as yours. We all love to hear about it.

Nice job Marek! I hope to see videos of this someday =) ...I think that although Ralf probably wasn't happy to lose, it would please him to know just how much it meant to you to beat The Legendary Ralf Souquet.

I think this is a good case for alternate breaks. I remember Ralf running a 5- or 6-pack in 10 ball during major championships. But here you were given a chance and you made the most of it... and made it a close, exciting match. Fans enjoyed it and you got to play another day.

Congratulations Marek.

It is a difficult task to beat a champion like Ralf. It was your day to bask in the sun.

Enjoy.....

Yeah you are right, I have to come up with such shots because my position game is not as strong as it should be. But I work hard on it and hopefully I will have some more victories to brag about... :)

Yeah! Getting Ralf in the draw in the first place was my wet dream... :grin-square: Funny thing is that I had a mail exchange with Ralf via facebook about 3 or 4 months ago where I congratulated him for winning some big tournament and wrote to him that I would love to play him one day. He replied that some dreams may come true earlier than one think....

There is no fault in bragging about beating a bona-fide champion! Few get to do so. Heck, I still brag about ALMOST beating a legend. I made the mistake of realizing I was not only going to beat him, but beat him bad. That caused me to lose focus and my next shot I dogged a duck on the 7. That was the last open shot I got in the set. So, I'm still waiting for how you feel right now, but I do have a good idea what it feels like! Congratulations on the win!

Well I tried to keep my focus all the time, I told myself 3-4 times per rack that he is just human...just human. That way I forced myself to believe I still got a chance even 2:7 down...

Congratulations Marek.

Yes, very difficult but not impossible. One has to believe and has to work hard both in practice and during the match. I knew that if my break doesnt deserve me I got slim chance to make things difficult for Ralf. And the break was the most important thing during the match, Ralf lost cueball maybe 3 or 4 times on the break and that gave me the chance to get back into the match.
