Just Wanted to Introduce Myself and Say Hello

Hi Saggy, what is your major area of study? Your answer tells me what I might ask to further the study of pocket billiards.

Mine was psychometrics with an emphasis on the study and treatment of behavior disorders (psychopaths, violence and other criminal types). Retired five years ago from Youngstown State.

There are a lot of interesting people here.

I have my Masters in Psychological Studies, additionally only a few credits shy of EdS. I love the field you chose and am myself a big True Crime buff, but for now only a hobby.

That was a nice way to say that, Joe.
I'm usually referred to as 'a case study'....

Considering the cast of characters in a pool hall on any given day, this board has no choice but to be "interesting". I am still hoping a series like Cheers or Wings gets made centered around a pool hall.

I don't know about you Smorgass Bored, but that cat needs help or a bit part in star wars. :D

What is amazing IS that the 2 quotes below were posted only 1 year ago! LOL. Rep inflation is swelling at neckbreak speed! LOL.

Welcome, a lot of people around here could use a psychologists. lol.

That was my college major too, but since I interact much better with inanimate objects than humans, I became a computer programmer.

Also I find it interesting that with 7 posts and having very recently gotten off the bench and actually joined you already 6 rep boxes. Kind of points out the fallacy of the rep system doesn't it? When I joined years ago, I actually joined twice so I had an extra id I never used (this one). So about 3 weeks ago somebody stated how easy it is to get rep now, so I dragged this id out of the closet and started using it with no posts and no rep. It took 2 weeks to get a full compliment of green boxes without trying. When I first joined the other id took 6 months to a year to acheive the same level. Interesting experiment. The experiment is over, but I think I'll keep using this id.

Here's the problem with your experiment. I've been on AZB since its beginning and like you, it took a long while to accumulate green boxes and Rep points. After 5 or 6 years, I had a total of 58 points.

Over the past 2-3 years, AZB doubled (or tripled) it's Member base and the number of people giving Rep grew proportionately.

I, and many other longtime members of AZB now have many thousands of Rep points. It took me about 8 years to accumulate my total, but now it is what it is.

In the past day or two, a new poster named GUS made a post and had one green box, I gave him Rep one time and he jumped from 1 green box to 8 green boxes. I am not alone. There are now over 300 members that have maxed out their green boxes at 11.

Good Rep from any of the members on Page 1 will now give a newcomer more than one or two green boxes.
AZB has grown, it's Membership has grown and the amount of Rep has grown accordingly. Such is life.

A better experiment might be to determine what type of life form Eddie Wheat is..... imo :)

(now, I'm afraid to give Saggy any Rep)

.

I'm going to jump into an Indiana Jones'ed thread to say that I am a true crime buff with one mell of a collection. Oh yea, I just got some rep today, and I appreciate it although I didn't offer anything outstanding, but hopefully it gave a few folks a chuckle.

So what happened to Saggy? I don't remember seeing him in these parts recently.

Welcome aboard Saggy. Wow! A college professor at the age of twenty-nine, that's a great accomplishment. Will you be asking for advice or giving out advice in the forum?

Welcome Saggy:
Hope to hear from you in future postings. This forum is the best with a lot of good people on it. Oh by the way I used to live in Bayonne NJ but left about 20 years ago. If I can ever help you in the future let me know.
Ron

Welcome to AZB. I see you play with a Paul Allers sneaky. Do you know Paul? He has built me three cues over the years. I really like the hit on his cues. Paul lives in Oak Harbor, WA about a half hour drive for me.

Your nickname, "Seacaucus Saggy" I am curious as to how you got it.

Don't know why I'm maxed out on Rep Points. I was a 5 when I took a sabatical for 3 or 4 months. Came back and I'm an expert "Beyond Repute" LOL

I just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I have been a long time lurker and finally decided to start an account. This is certainly one of my favorite boards to read. I hope I will be able to make a positive contribution. I guess little about me:

Name: Craig
Skill Level: Low B
Occupation: College Professor/Psychology
Age: 29

feel free to ask anything that you are curious about...........
A Psych professor?

Oh man are you gonna have some fun on this board...:)

Saggy is a great name

...it doesn't even count as hijacking when i jump in now to say it's a pet peeve of mine when people don't read previous posts but still contribute. I don't even forgive the people who start with "i didn't read anything but the op, but..." The preface is rarely needed.

So Saggy, wherever you are, you are welcome to the board, and obviously missed. In our own weird way.
