JW Petree - Review

My good buddy ScottR sent me a cue to test drive that was made by Mr. Petree with a little help from someone else...nice work buddy.

For anyone interested in Petree's work I can tell you first hand that it is excellent and his cues play outstanding.
I immediately put the butt and two shafts on a scale and while assembled it is a little light for my taste, one of the shafts came in at 4.3 oz which is right up my alley. His shaft wood is superb and because it is a radial pin I was able to put the shaft on my Webb as well.

BAD NEWS SCOTT. You ain't getting that shaft back :D

I was SERIOUSLY considering having him make me a shaft but the honest truth is, I am just too used to the Universal shaft and have decided to get one with a radial joint. Otherwise I would not hesitate for one second buying a shaft from him.

Exceptional quality and my thanks to Scott for giving me the opportunity to try one out.

Crap! I just realized that I don't have any good pics of that cue. Jeez, wot a loozer . . . . :o

No worries buddy. I'll snap some tonight and post them tomorrow.
 
Here is an ok one. It is the 3rd cue from the bottom. Curly maple points into pau rosa, with the segmented sleeve. The amboyna points into ebony was also make by JW.

Have you been following me and mimicking my wise cue purchase decisions? I've got a Petree Jump/Break, two Webbs on the way, and a Universal Smart Shaft.

by the way it is signed under the joint i think it was made by JW Petree also.

Shane is correct that JW Petree made that also. It is the companion to the amboyna and ebony cue beside it.

1pRoscoe can attest to the breaking power of the cue. He tried to steal it! :p

Yeah i thought i saw it but it looked different than any other jw j/b i saw before. looks real sharp though.

JW custom made it to complement the ebony playing cue.

That Amboyna/Ebony cue has the longest points I've ever seen :eek: . Did you ask for that? Looks pretty cool.
