Kamui - new tips II

Has anyone tried the new Kamui tips and if so, which ones and have you noticed any difference in them that you can share?

Thanks,

my 2 cents...

check out their website...theres a ton of info including a slow-mo vid that shows the tips elasticity. I had no idea they moved this much! Look, I bout a varney with a 314-2 shaft on here a while back, always been an ld shaft kinda guy. That aside, it had a hard kamui black on it. Prior to this, I always thought I was a med tip kinda guy :) turns out, the harder the tip, the less unwanted english, the less unwanted throw, the better I could pocket balls. Funny thing is, I use english to pocket balls more often than not. With this being said, one would think, hard tip + lots of english= lots of miscueing. NOT WITH THESE! I've been an advocate of Kamui Black tips ever since, whether its a SS,S,M,or H I like them a lot! I wore out mine after about 6 months of non-stop, everyday play and next to NO MAINTENANCE! I've had 1 moori med, I loved on a meucci cue I bought years ago, ever since, moori's seem to glaze over, miscue like crazy and Mushroom too damn much. If you can get your hands on the old ones, the moori's are right there. But as far as getting used to something thats available now, and will continue to be for a while to come, the kamui blacks are the best tip out there, bar none! They are a little harder than the browns, which I like. They holed there shape on the radius, don't mushroom at all! EVER! Machine great, play great! And are worth their weight in gold. The most important part of the playability of a cue is the tip! If you're sitting on the fence, buy a soft (which is a hair under the hardness of a triangle) and a med (a hair harder than a triangle), give them a try and I'm pretty sure you won't ever want to use another tip again. I had a hard on my cue and shot with it for 6 mos, replaced it with a hand full of different triangles, moori meds, stingrays, lepros, milk duds, karomi's etc... and couldn't hit a ball with confidence for during the following 2 months after i took my worn out kamui off! It might just be in my head, and maybe I didn't give the other tips long enough to get used to, but either you like it, or you don't. I won't put anything else on my cues ever again as long as I can help it! Hop this helps, if not, check their website, pretty convincing...

Joey, I've had a few moori tips that I liked, but I tried a Kamui black soft after a friend who switched from moori to kamui told me about it.
After about a year I am now ready for a new ....KAMUI BLACK SOFT.I absolutely love these tips.
It seemed like I had better control and was more consistent.I also felt more comfortable using power draw.
The only thing i used on it is a tip pic,and it hasn't mushroomed at all.I'm told the blacks work better for our hot and humid southern climate.

I used to use nothing but Moori soft for 15 years, put on a Black SS (super soft) in March, have NOT touched it, and it plays as beautifully to day as it did the first day....try it, I'm convinced you'll like it...less money...more quality and performance!...also for a tip tool try the new kamui Gator grip

I must also add that I am the Kamui distributor for Eastern Canada...:o)

I think I am going to try a kamui next. I have a moori on right now and it was good at first, but I notice it is glazing over and I am having problems with miscueing also. I was going to ask if anyone else had this problem with mooris but found your post. Thanx for the review.

I've read the same thing about the blacks but I think I'm going to try a Kamui Tan Medium first. I'll do the black on the next replacement.

Right now, I am fairly satisfied with the tips that the OB shafts come with but I'm always looking to try something new.

Thanks,

Well, I guess I'll cave in and try one on my 3C cue. I need to change it pretty soon anyway. Might as well see what all the fuss is about.

I have to tell you the Kamui SS blacks are incredible. Talked with John B. today and the new tips that will be available Aug. 15 are replacing the current ones. They are supposed to be even better. I am very pleased I have them on my OB 1.

I use Kamui Med tan, i tried the medium black and imo it felt dead i couldnt get as much spin or action as the normal ones...but only on a few shots the black was better. I went back to the normal kamui.

Kamui are the best tips on the market...bar none

Been playing with them now for 2-2.5 years, and aslong as they stay in Business and keep making them, I will forever use them. Always use a Kamui Medium (not a Black Kamui Medium) and I havent needed to maintain the tip at all, I have had the tip on my maple shaft for a good year and a half, and havent needed to bring it down at all.

Have to say though, I havent tried any of the Kamui Black range, as I am that comfortable with the original Kamui that I dont feel a need to change. I am sure they are awesome tips though.

Thank you for the nice comments about Kamui™ Tips. Please take a moment to look at our new graphic description chart of the New Kamui™ Tips available mid Aug. new_kamui_chart.jpg
Remember this about looking at the chart.(give some time to study it) the more elasticity to a tip along with grip = the less "force" you have to exert on the ball to get ball placement on the table.

Given the info about elasticity - is there a recommended shape to go along with that? (nickel, dime, ??)

I just put a black soft on last week and the biggest change i've noticed so far is how different the ping of my cue is. now, i had a very worn down talisman on before that, so maybe i just gotta let the kamui 'settle' before making any judgments.

i do seem to get a little more side spin with this tip, but i can't tell (or remember) if it's because it's a new tip vs the last layer of an old tip or just because of the tip itself. *sigh*

You should send a few of us a couple different type of your tips for us to have installed and try out and we will post the results here on AZ. You might sell a lot of them, if they perform well.

Just a word of warning. Kamui tips play a level harder than the names suggest. So if you play with a medium normally, be sure to get the Kamui soft.

Personally I like the tips far better than any others I've ever used. I highly recommend them.

Am using Kamui tan MS. Having some miscue problems about mid-way through the life of the tip. Find myself scuffing it almost as much as I used to scuff the LePros when they would start to glaze. Didn't have that problem with the Kamui Black S, however, so I will try another one of those next time.

Good advice...

Whatever Kamui tip you chose to try out, I think if you like it right away, you'll like it for the duration. If after a few weeks, the one you've tried is a little too hard or soft, try a different one. It's the performance over time that has been earning it's praise.

And yeah, they are harder than the names imply for sure.

Good luck!
