Kamui players, clear or standard?

Does anyone use the standard Kamui tips any longer? Or has the clear taken over? Thanks,

I usually buy one clear tip and after that wears out I glue a standard Kamui on that clear pad. Saves the ferrule a bit in the long run, I think.

They play basically the same, use what you like the best based on looks

The original kamuis, the brown ones are far better in my opinion than the blacks are. And I have been through every hardness/color combination there is. I like the original medium the best, it feels nice with a little give but still wirh a snap. Hard is very hard, makes a nice click when struck, but i had a little hard times getting used to it coming from softer tips

Try an Ultraskin tip. They are way cheaper and I can't tell 20.00 difference between the two.

I used the brown when I had them on, the blacks glazed over to fast/much for me.

Now I'm using a milkdud and prefer that over a Kamui. I have a CDX on the way with an UltraSkin on it, we will see how that goes but I'll probably end up switching that to a dud too.

I used Kamui Blacks with and without the Clear pad before I switched to UltraSkins.

I preferred the tip without the Clear pad because I found the pad distracting. It's a minor issue and I'm sure I could have gotten over it, but there it is.

My experience is the same. Found the clear too distracting so I use black or brown

when I read this I think; 'he must not be buying his from auth kamui distributors'.

No, they were originals. I don't like layered tips and I think that Kamui blacks are the worst out there. You pay 25.00 euros for glazing and miscueing.

And pls don't tell me that I should pay another 25.00 to buy the paste (chalk), or another 40.00 for their "special" tip tool......

Never had any problems with triangle tips...

I use a Kamui Black, not Clear. The one Clear I tried hit a bit dead IMO. May have just been a dud.

it's all subjective - my fav non layered tip is triangle so we both like those.

my player has had the same kamui black soft tip on it for 3 years. very low maint never mushrooms, looks like it has another year left on it. It performs great for me, but again, it's subjective..

there are a lot of top pros using kamui tips with good results, some admittedly have kamui sponsorships, many, however, do not..

If you don't like any layered tips then they aren't what you want. But to say that all kamuis are garbage may be a little strong.

imo

i still play with an original kamui brown medium on my backup cue, plays better than the black in my opinion
the black seemed to mushroom too much and it felt like it wouldn't last nearly as long as the brown, both were medium too
i haven't tried the clears because personally i prefer a good triangle like the ones on my main playing cue shafts

I have a clear hard. Was on it when i got the cue. I like how it hits.

They are all garbage.

That is pretty much how I feel about the Kamui tips. After using many I went back to the original tip my shaft came with, Tiger Everest, I am much happier with that one compared to soft, med, and hard standard and clear Kamuis.

Clear Black seems to be most popular, I think it's because people don't know tjat Kamui makes Clear Original tips wich holds chalk alot better.

I was unaware so thanks for the heads up. If I ever switch back to Kamui I'll give one a try because I prefer the original so haven't tried a clear because I thought they only came in black.
