It's worth the money, got a cube tonight. Chalked my cue twice played 10 or 11 games, never miscued once. I only chalked the second time because I just couldn't imagine that I didn't need to. Will follow up with more as my trial goes on.

Kamuii Chalk

I started using Kamuii Chalk a couple of months ago and I'm sold on it. At first I thought there's no way it's worth the price, but I've changed my mind. It's worth it!

Seriously how much do you guys miscue lol I play everyday and I don't miscue but once a week ... Maybe :)

I'm the same way. I use Master's green chalk. It's part of my pre-shot routine. Chalking gives me time to evaluate the shot and decide what I have to do to obtain position for the next shot. Plus I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money on chalk.

Truthfully I'd like to give it a try because Im always up for new things but I know I'll leave it sit someplace lol and at that price I will not be happy about it

I don't miscue often unless I try a super draw shot which is rare too, but the Kamui makes me not miscue at all.

How good is the chalk, can you miscue with it if you try to? can you get further out to the edge of the cueball than you can using master or does it just stay on the cue longer?

I finally got around to trying Kamui chalk the other day.

Yawn.

No noticeable difference in how far from center I could hit, so what's the point? I don't want to chalk less often - that will make chalking less routine and lead to MORE miscues, not less.

And $25 (or more!) per cube is obscene and ridiculous, no matter what it actually does.

i got a cube and didnt like it, i prefer to chalk inbetween shots and i hate the texture of the kamui, doesnt apply very nicely at all. personal preference but I still prefer good ol masters.

That's the part I don't get. So you can chalk less....so what? Are you going to make it a habit to only chalk after 7 shots? Or will it be after every 9? Or will you just chalk before an extreme spin shot? What do you do if you happen to be playing without it?

The chalk may be the greatest thing ever, but I don't like the idea of only chalking once in a blue moon.

Chalking really isn't that difficult.

My Preference

I also chalk after every shot as my pre shot routine so I use whatever chalk the poolroom supplies with the balls. However I do have a cube of Kamui chalk that I use on my Break Cue tip as well as my Jump Cue tip.

The point really isn't how much I miscue, but I would say as much as anyone. But the chalk does price more bit and grip from what I can tell thus far. I play with a Z2 shaft with a soft tip so I generally use and get a lot of English on the cue ball. My hope is that if the chalk holds to claim l will be able to get the same amount of English while staying more to the center of the cue ball, which will equate to more accurateness. If the chalk last longer between chalking without loosing grip or performance then it will last much longer and the overall cost won't be as big a factor.

This would be worth something to me, but not $25-$30 a cube. Maybe $5. Maybe.

It's easy to test: shoot kicks straight across the table with the same amount of sidespin and speed (check chalkmarks and where the CB stops to be sure) using Kamui vs. Masters. The chalk that makes the CB go significantly widest (on average) wins.

Until I see the results of a real test like this, and not just somebody's impression, I doubt this claim. I don't think Masters chalk slips enough to see a difference (if at all).

See thats what I found. People are talking about the chalk left on the cue ball.

I scuffed and shaped my tip before testing it. After a couple of weeks, I am chalking just about after every shot.

I don't think I should have to scuff more often using this chalk than I normally had to.

Also, I found that the chalk leaves a large divot of chalk on the cue ball.
You can wipe it off and its a fair amount.

If you chalk up and leave some on the cue, you can be sure of one thing,
that divot of chalk isn't on the end of your tip.

I don't mind chalking after every shot anyway.
I don't quite remember if Kamui ever made claims as to how many shots one can make with one chalk up or if it was just a claim made by players using it.

I like it just fine but don't feel that its much if any better than BD, Russian Magic or Pre Flag tho.

I can routinely miss as many shots per set with Kamui as I can with any other chalk. If I had any hair, it wouldn't be blowing in the wind.

I don't feel that one can say, "I can make 20 or 30 shots before another chalk up. The amount of times you should chalk is maybe determined by many different factors in any one game. If you feel safe doing 20 shots, cool, I don't.

This topic never goes anywhere...lol.

Some people think the chalk is fine, others think it's snake oil the same as some people love LD shafts and others think they're just for suckers and that mosconi didn't need no stinking LD to run 526.

I have a cube of Kamui and i chalk before every game and/or if i want to play out on the edge of the cue ball, will i buy another cube when this one is gone? I can't say, but i'm sure i can live without it like i did before.

I gave a cube to my father for christmas, he likes it well enough except that he went from chalking after every couple of shots to forgetting to chalk at all half the time until he miscues 45 minutes later. For someone like that kamui probably isn't a good idea. For me it's not a problem as i never forget to chalk before every rack or extreme english shots with kamui or before every shot with masters, maybe i'll get absent minded too when i get to 65, but for now i can remember shit just fine and adjust as needed...lol.

IMO, using Kamui during practice is just excessive. I don't (and won't) change my routines. Like everyone else here, I chalk before every shot. I'm going to do that with Master Chalk and I'm going to do that with Kamui chalk. I keep a cube in my case for when the matches are really important to me. If the price ever drops to something reasonable like $5 a cube (I can't believe I said that), perhaps I'll use Kamui chalk all the time and maybe my routine will change.

For the record though, it is probably the best invention pool has seen in years.
