Has anyone tried the Katana shafts that just came out on the market? I am interested in hearing opinions on the shaft.

i think there's an az'r here that sells them. we talked briefly about them but i can't recall the right name

I have an account with CueStix International Co. (wholesale distribution company), which have the Katana shafts made for them. Katana is a Low Deflection (LD) segmented shaft with a great radial hit distribution. The low deflection is very much like the McDermott I-2 LD shaft. Probably not as LD as the OB-1 or 2, or the 314-2 or Z-2 shafts. The quality is great (including a protective sock and the cost is much less than either OB or Predator. I have a 5/16x14 w silver ring I bought to try out and use as a demo and have taken orders for them already!

No idea how the shaft performs, but that logo is very cosmetically displeasing...

Interesting that the logo plays the "pi" symbol just like Predator plays the "314" reference. I wonder if the greek pi symbol has any meaning as an asian script?

That symbol also means knife or katana in another language. But it does look like Pi....

That is not a pi symbol.

The word katakana is Japanese, meaning sword, dagger, knife (katana). That is the Japanese (and chinese) character of such.

Id sand that insignia off that as soon as I got it. That thing is awfull. Worse than the 0b1 ferrulle. Why cant someone make a Ld shaft that isnt ugly?

How the hell can you walk into a bar and try and be sneaky with all these dead giveaways right on the shaft? They should make a "sneaky" version of LD shafts. Even if they charge a little more for it.

You can get a Predator shaft partial and not apply the logo.

walk into a bar and be sneaky???? if you're walking in a bar trying to be sneaky you should be using a house cue anyway

This shaft has similar low deflection characteristics like a McDermott I-2 or a Universal Smart Shaft. Not as much spin as a 314-2 or an OB-1. It is easier to control than them, also.

How do these shafts compare to say a predator 3142 as far as added cue ball spin/control?
