It's an import.

"Made in Taiwan".

I have seen some nice conversions of these types of cue.

The shaft on that one is ramin wood, not maple, so not worth salvaging.

The forearm looks like maybe maple...not ramin.

I certainly wouldn't want it for a keeper...but maybe a conversion if you like the splice.

Doc, ur right

Shaft is Ramin, forearm is maple. It's dead straight, so I'm going see what I can do for a rebuild.

When I first saw it on Ebay that's what I was thinking. Could make a nice cue out of it.

I will be excited to see what you do with it. I hope you post the results here.:thumbup::thumbup:

I'll be interested to see what you do with the handle area. Those turned grooves look deep.

Leather?

Cork?

Other?

Maybe turn it down and sleeve the whole handle?

Shame to cut it.

This is all assuming those grooves are cut too deep for a practical wrap groove to be cut. Of course it can be built up if needed by wrapping veneer. But somehow I think there is something more creative to be done here.

I have seen you do some creative stuff. This could be really cool.

I have seen you do so much with "one piece".

If the grooves are too deep I suggest turning the handle area all the way back and then sleeving it. The whole thing. Leaving the bottoms of the points. You could even have a ring at the A joint with no actual A joint. Need a long gun drill...

But I am no cue maker and am just fantasizing.

Not much

The handle is very solid, we played a couple games with the crap shaft and I like the grooved handle. Im thinking, new shaft, butt cap, and joint rings that match the veneer colors, new pin and joint collars, butt refinish.

I'd turn the handle down and sleeve it.
Might even put rings on top and bottom of handle.

Keep the grooves?

I had not even considered it.

I decided to keep it simple

Mixed black and brown rings, replace joint pin 3/8 by 10 and a new shaft. It plays great.
