Try some of that $30 chalk, it never seems to dry out
Go out and scrounge up other well used pool halls chalks and put them in your basement. see what happens.

If I had $30 per cube chalk I would need to worry about it freezing because it will be a cold day in Hell before I spend $30 on a single cube of chalk.
True story: When I just started shooting 6-7 years ago I saw Kamui advertised for $30 per cube. I wondered how many pieces of chalk a "cube of chalk" contained because I thought that there was no way on Gods green earth that someone would spend 30 American dollars on a single piece of chalk. :scratchhead::scratchhead:I thought "cube" was like a standard industry term for a certain quantity of chalk, like a dozen eggs, case of beer, carton of cigarettes, etc... Imagine my surprise when I found out people where paying $30 for 1 little blue piece of chalk......:shocked2::shocked2:
My table is in our (my wifes) basement where we run a single dehumidifier during the warm season, its usually 50%-60% humidity and my chalk fades, looks white-ish on top. I started keeping it in a small Tupperware container when Im not shooting and that fixed my problem. (I gotta properly care for my 35 cents cube of Master chalk)
You should try it. That shit get all over everything. You'll need a ball cleaner too

I'd bet we've all spent $20.00 in worse ways than this.
Put the chalk cube in the microwave, and set the timer for 2 minutes.
Do not pull it out when the timer goes off as the chalk cube will be in the neighborhood of 300ºF
Wait 20 minutes for the cube to degass and cool.
Presto, chalk is dry again, with a singed label.
If there is air movement (a breeze) on the chalk, that will dry it fairly quick. But otherwise I am surprised that chalk would dry out in a basement.
I prefer a cigar humidor with a piece of bread in it for humidity control. Flawless if you wanna keep stuff moist.
Hmmm, where I usually place it in line with the dehumidifier exhaust, but barely.. I'll have to test that.
Also - does anyone know if there is an easy way to test that? lol. Like to measure the dryness of the chalk cheaply just relative to other chalks?
It's the only way my research can be replicated in the future.
