hey guys i need a little help as far as a cue goes and i know somf of you here would be able to help, a guy justcalled me that a bought a hoppe cue from some years back and wants to sell his kersenbrock to me, all i know at this time is it is a 4 pointer, has two shafts and is like new as are all his cues! he says the cue was purchased years ago from a dealer, and i need to figure out what to look for as far as authenteicity and value, i have no reason to doubt the cue is a early kersenbrock and not a omega cue, what would be a reasonable amount for the cue, i know he is very hesitant to part with it! but called me to see if i had interest
 
Call Eric Lee or check his thread of cues F/S he has a couple in there. He's a really good guy and a straight shooter. JMO
 
I've got a couple Kersenbrock's here if you click on my signature.

I don't know what to look for to authenticate, but there are some guys on here who know a bit about what to look for.
 
Be sure to check for straightness. I've seen quite a few that weren't exactly straight. There is a member here named Tim Cole .. user name findcue4u that can help you out. Email Tim... he knows a lot about Kersenbrocks.. I hope this helps.........................

contact don sherman sure- man cues do a google his site has a phone number and call him tell him lee sent you im sure he can help....

Your friend,depending on how long ago, 20 years maybe, probably paid around $750.00 for the cue. Todays value is at least $2000. If you get it for that, you can't go wrong. David has a style that a lot of cue makers like. To tell his cue from South West is easy. Davids points are very uneven at the end points (tips). I'm a machinist and measured them around .200 thou. If ever you have a chance to get one, jump on it.JMO. Rod.
 
If it's a 4 pointer, it's likely an early cue of his unless one of his few later conversions. If this is the case, it was made during the years he was experimenting with everything under the sun. Therefore, the normal things to look for to verify will not be present. You won't have the typical rings, bumper, etc, and most especially the pin. He used high TPI pins in the early years before developing the 'big pin'.

Skip all the other recommends and just contact David himself. You can reach him through Ed Young.

Also, you should know that even though this piece might be collectable because of it's age, it will likely not play like what most of us here know as a Kers.

can do im still waitin for a call for more details like year and such, he has a history with the cue since he purchased it, i will take pics and definately contact ed for authentication. but i remember when i got a hoppe from him years back he had bought new and he said mint !! lol!!!! it was like goin back in time it was ubelievable and he still played with it from time to time!

You mentioned Hoppe twice now. Are you referring to old Bruns Titlists? Or Hoppe style cues from other makers?

I was just with Ed this weekend, so if you can't get ahold of him, forward pics to me, and I'll get them in front of him. I'll be seeing him again in the next couple days.
 
thanks for all the pm's guys for the info. just a update the cue is a 6 pointer with mahogany points and purpleheart forearm, and was purchased new in chicago from david during the color of money film shooting! ill have pics tomorrow but he told me that southwest shafts will not fit this cue that kersenbrock shafts only will fit, slight difference i guess if that makes sense! he was actually a little offended when i said i needed to authenticate the cue! and honestly at his age he is very adamit about the history and when he bought it! and its like new!
 
for a 4 points kersen, you can't go wrong with it.
if it's a 6 points cue, you better send it to Laurie Franklin.
