Knoxville Bust

Im all for locking up criminals but drug crimes are a different animal. It is pretty much a victim less crime. So if these were rapists or murderers or something along those lines I think there would be a different opinion.

I know we differ on some opinions Adam but I still think you are cool guy, but you cant beat me ! lol

real talk!

I don't understand how these threads always turn into a legalizing weed thread. This crime has ZERO to do with weed or its legalization.

If it was kool aid that was hard to get with big money involved they would be selling it.

Respect for the law is undermined when there are laws which have no true moral basis. Marijuana being illegal is just about as moral as making Kool-Aid illegal.

just saw this over the weekend.

My favorite part is when they show the guys picking small pineapple sized buds and its all legal. so strong

I live in a resendential/commericial area in CO, the bldg next door has now five grow rooms and a dispensary on the main level. I was up on my roof cleaning the leaves and gutters just yesterday, and it looks like the rest of the upstairs is going to be all grow rooms. The only problem I've had with them was the sounds of the exhaust fans at night. I called the city, the inspector came out with his decible meter, and had them redesign the venting, now its quiet at night, and thats the only problem I've incurred. My home is less than 48'' from this bldg. Oh yeah, I also have one of the best brewerys six doors down, so on a good day :) you can walk outside and smell green bud and beer ''at the same time'' gettin' ready for distribution.

This is a really sad thing for pool players in this area. I really wish these guys wouldn't have gotten so greedy and over their heads. The ones I know are not terrible people. A lot of pool tallent wasted here....

Reactions: JAM
Feds rule

I'm not sure about this. In California, if you have a medical marijuana card, you can have marijuana FedEx'd to you from the marijuana store. I know of one instance where a California resident had 8 ounces delivered to him from the local pot shop.

Here in Az if you have a state issued card you are fine with the local police, even if growing. A fellow I know had his house broken into, and called the police to make a report. He was leery, but went ahead anyway and called. He had a grow operation going at the time. The cops thought it was cool, made the report and left.

However, anywhere close to the border you encounter 'check points' set up by Customs-Immigration officers (Feds) to search for drugs-illegals. If they find pot while searching, they call the local Sheriff. It's up to the Sheriff what he does w/you. They will confiscate the 'meds' even if you have a state issued card.

I can make a call from anywhere in the state to a 800 number and have someone deliver brownies, cookies, hash, bud, oil, or candies to me. All 100% legal. (to the state anyway) 2 1/2 ounces every 2 weeks is the max here.

I was working on a job about illegal drugs being smuggled into the United States and how difficult it was for the Feds to prevent it from happening. Every time they came with a new strategy, the drug smugglers figured out a way to get around it.

One Colombian cartel attempted to use a submarine filled with drugs, but they got caught. :p

Interestingly, pot isn't an attractive drug anymore for the smugglers. The drug cartels aren't interested in smuggling marijuana as much as cocaine, mainly because marijuana takes up too much room and cargo space. It's a bigger bang for the buck for them to smuggle in cocaine and other forms of powder drugs.

Here's a recent news snippet about Obama and marijuana: Members of the Bay Area's Congressional delegation called on President Barack Obama to cease-and-desist the US Justice Department's crackdown on California's medical marijuana industry on Friday, and were joined by representatives from around the country, including a Republican from Southern California and a representative from Tennessee...

...Obama had on the campaign trail expressed support for medical marijuana and said he would not devote law enforcement resources to policing it; Attorney General Eric Holder in 2009 made similar comments.

The federal government classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, which means it has no medical value and a high potential for abuse. The nine members of Congress are asking marijuana to be reclassified.

"It is critically important for patients to have safe access to this treatment that continues to be recommended by doctors," said Farr in a statement. "California voters decided to adopt clear regulations to allow patients to do just that. It is unfortunate that the federal government has decided to target these legal vendors instead of focusing limited resources on those who sell illicit drugs."

According to some statistics, "medical marijuana" is a $1.7-billion industry.

I understand the separation of Federal and State government as it pertains to law, but on this topic, there needs to be new sentencing guidelines, IMO.

When you read about this topic in the news, it really does affect one differently if you know the parties involved. :frown:

If the Feds cracked down on illegal gambling the same way they are cracking down on marijuana, there'd be quite a few pool players *and* industry members who would be guilty, guilty, guilty.

People post about playing $10,000 sets, but this seems to be an accepted societal norm -- well, at least an accepted norm on a pool forum. :p

The lure of making quick money is how some get caught up into this unfortunate lifestyle. They are not thinking about the long-term consequences and are instead only seeing the short-term gains.

Gambling is quite similar, if you think about it.

Thats right...they have reverted to using catapults to throw it over the fences here. Converted 18 wheel car carriers into mobile 'bridges' to allow cars carrying loads to simply drive over the fence. Also using ultralights to fly it over at night dropping bundles down to waiting cars.

The Colombian cartels have several subs for cocaine captured so far. One with 7.5 TONS of cocaine on it. National Geo did a documentary on them.

They caught a truck here (Az) 2 days ago coming thru....2 tons of pot. It's almost an everyday occurrence. Tunnels under the border too.

The border patrol confiscates over 100,000 lbs of pot every year just in Az.

That's a lot of tax money going down the drain.

Unfortunately, it was a little more than just pot.

"They are accused of possessing and trying to sell more than a ton of marijuana, more than ten pounds of cocaine, and oxycodone as well as money laundering and possession of firearms"

The 10 pounds of cocaine put a huge nail in the coffin thats for sure!

At the height of it's power the German courts under the Nazi party was clicking off at about a 90% conviction rate..... Now think about the fact that in the U.S. the rate is around 98%.........

If you got to a courtroom in Nazi Germany you were among the lucky few.

This is so true,in 2001 ,i was in jail up in northwestern pa,there was 32 inmates in 2 different cell blocks, thats 64 inmates, there was about 20 some inmates that were in there for child molestation,it is amazing how they try and protect them,up there they cell em up together,i heard some of the sickest stories there, that these monster did,(now keep in mind ,this is a 6 month max jail)SO RITE THERE TELLS U WHAT KIND OF SENTENTS THESE MONSTERS RECEIVE,very little time, for ruing kids lifes forever, anytime and everytime 1 of these molester try to step out of their cell, they got what they deserver, they got their slimy asses kick good, but ur so rite the law is really very out of wack when it comes to punishing these sickos and rapist, they should be the 1s with the very long times.

Unfortunately, the legal interpretation of "conspiracy" can be interpreted a plethora of ways, including the RICO statute.

.

Just like a guy peeing behind a bush on the way side charged with and thrown into the prison as "Sex offender".

Number 10 in the list is a Roadie and sometimes was a road buddie with another Roadie whose posted money was stollen by Boston Bandits.

At the present time, selling drugs (including marajuana) in this country is illegal. So, don't do the crime unless you are willing to do the time! They took their chances and got caught. Now, they must pay the price.

Cigarettes (nicotine) is the most addictive drug.Period.It kills more people and causes more health problems than all the drugs combined.
Yet it is legal and the goverment subsidizes it.
Something terribly wrong with that picture!

It'll be a wonder if you ever get back out on the road. I'm guessing you will be spending more time up on roof. Just don't fall off.
