Kou vs Wu

Wu looks more comfortable (I can see that now that I got the link!) than Kuo. Kuo missed a semi-routine cut on the six ball for a simple run out. The 6 just hung in that same pocket it's been hanging for the whole tournament. Wu clears the table than breaks and runs the next rack. Wu's break seems to be much better too.

Wu just got the gift he needed. This one could go hill hill at this rate. And I believe no one has failed to make a ball on the break yet, phenomenal

Wow. Wu just miscued on a regular draw shot.

I wonder how those tables are playing under the TV lights. I know that wringing-wet tables play a whole lot differently than dry tables, but without being there, it's hard to know what the conditions are. And then there's the God-awul battle cry I hear over and over again: BALL SKIDDED!

Kuo 7 vs Wu 8

Wu breaks and makes the 8 with 1 hanging on the bottom left. Miscues CB jumping a bit, but still makes the 1. Sees the 2, but no packet available. Blows the safe overhitting it.

Kuo gets the 2 top right. 3 on the same packet. Messed up a position for the long 4. Makes the 4 bottom right. Aims and stands up again. 5 to right side. 6 to top right. 7 to left side and 9 to bottom left to claw back down by 1.

Nothing worse than a temperamental pocket a/k/a the "pit of despair."

The commentators crack me up. According to them if a player can see the ball they have an automatic runout. That must be why they are commentating

Beleive it or not, Efirkey, my horse says the same thing, too. I don't get it either, but, of course, I'm the one sitting on the rail. :D

Kuo 7 vs Wu 9

Kuo breaks and makes the 7 and has an easy 1. 1 top right. 2 bottom right. 3 top left draws and CB is hampered by the 8 and wrong sided the 4. Gets the rake high and missed the 4.

Wu takes the oppurtunity and packets the 4. 5 off the long rail to bottom left. 6 top left. 8 left side and 9 bottom right to go 2 up again.

Kuo just missed the 4 ball, jacked up over the 8 with the rake. Wu gets out to make it 9-7. Wu is looking much better at this point even though both have made uncalled for mistakes.

Playing for peanuts, sure, but can there be any more pressure than this? Winning this championship for an Asian is like an American winning the US Open in golf. It can set them up for life financially.

One of the most underestimated strengths in one's game. Willie Mosconi said, "When in doubt, use the mechanical bridge." Corey Deuel plays better with the bridge than he does two-handed.

Francisco Bustamante is known to shoot shots behind his back. Some players even attempt a one-handed shot, which makes me cringe.

I just got another cup of coffee and have planted myself for a front-row seat. Let the festivities begin, BlowFish!

I'm pulling for Wu! What a great story it would be to see this 16-year-old child prodigy win the 2005 WPC! :)

Okay, just now got to computer, where is the coffeepot? Is it over yet?

How do you learn to make the corner ball on the break every time like these guys? Do I need that pretty referee to rack for me. Surely this wouldn't happen if they racked for each other.

JAM, looks to me like the table is playing pretty fast. Maybe a bit long too. But like you said, I'm not there to really know.

Kuo 8 vs Wu 9

Wu breaks and makes 1 and 6 with CB flying off the table on the monster break of his.

Kuo takes ball in hand makes the 2 bottom right. 3 bottom left. 4 top left. 5 and 7 in. 8 top left and 9 bottom right for the rack.

I don't discount the immense pressure on these two finals players, and I can't imagine how much this win will mean to each of them. It has often been said that if Efren Reyes, as an example, can see a shot, he can get out. For every one shot the average player has in his arsenal, I'll bet Efren Reyes has about 20-plus. Must be nice. :p

Well, Archer, commentating two days ago, called making a ball on the break on the TV table "a formality". I think that table is breaking a little on the easy side.
