There has been so much talk about KT and how big of a scumbag he is, but you know, the fact is, in my opinion, every successful buisiness man out there has probably got to that point by screwing people over. the scary thing is, we admire and reward them... most of the time (if you dont think this is true, go to a party that kt is at and see the attention he gets). i bet if you think of anybody that has been very successful, they have, in a very shrewd manner, screwed others out of money. the average person on this forum may hate kt, but admire donald trump or bill gates.... all these rich businessmen are really nothing but scumbags that society loves for some reason, they look past the fact that they are greedy, arrogant manipulaters and see only success and confidence. i think there are very few exceptions to this. give kt a break, hes just doing what people admire him for and what makes him successful. we need to stop critisizing businessmen and start thinking about the ways in which we view members of society (ie rich vs poor).

I think you have a unique and screwed up way of looking at things. People where I come from do not admire people for being scumbags, in fact they are avoided at all costs.
People are admired for positive actions not negative. You stated above(give kt a break, hes just doing what people admire him for and what makes him successful. ) now I do not know who you are, and I know nothing about your back ground, however, I do have a single question WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great day, and I wish you well with your treatments!!!!!!!

I tried to address this is my initial response but you didnt read it, i bet if you went to a high class party with kt he'd have women
drooling over him and everyone would respect and be interested in him as that "guy on TV with the book." if you dont think that would be the case, fine, but i guarantee he would be well respected.

of course pool players dont like him, he screwed us over. all im saying is peole are respected becasue of their success and wealth. kt is a perfect example, but we have seen the other side of what that entails..... screwing people over.
almost all other very
successful businessmen have done the same exact thing.

I disagree with your assessment. The only women drooling over him would probably be the "play for pay" type. And any respectable people in the crowd would be talking behind his back about what a sleazy reputation he has. High class people would avoid him like the plague.

Dude, your assessment is truly screwed up, people are not respected for what they have, they are respected for what they do. I do agree that people will follow you around and want to be around you if you are rich and successful, but this is only because they want something from you, not because they respect or admire you.

You see shit, is shit, you can serve it anyway you wish to, but it still smells and those who buy into it will always have a shit eating grin:D :D :D :D

let me ask you guys something, i only saw a movie on this subject an am NO authority on it, but take bill gates for example. from what i understand from that pirates of silicon valley movie, gates pretty much stole from the apple guy (i forget his name, see how much i know). so, is bill gates not well respected???? there are just so many examples of this, and i still believe kt lives it up wherever he goes, i mean cmon.... cant you just see it.... oh, you're that guy on tv with the book... etc, etc.... they dont know he's a scumbag, ONLY we do.

Bullshit can get you to the top, but it takes character to remain up there! I'm willing to bet that kt will eventually fall.

But enzo, your argument seems to be that because some dolts revere evil, rich, powerful people, that evil is OK. I think you've lost your moral compass. Or your straight edge. Hitler was Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" one year, but the power that award acknowledged doesn't make his actions right. Get a grip. Also, look into Godwin's Law.

Ya know, it's effen amazing how some people will compare a scumbag hustler like KT to some of the richest, most successful people in the world. Folks, they are not in the same league - not even close!!

There are so many threads where people will use names like Bill Gates, Trump, etc., in order to make a point about KT. Like they're similar? NO!

Bill Gates is in the TOP of the Forbes 100 Richest list, Donald Trump is down several dozen lines. Now, lets see, where is KT on that list?? OH! WHAT? No Effen Way! Whaddya mean he's not even on the list?? How is that possible??

Well, he's not on the Forbes Top 100 - or even 400! Hell, most Brokers & Developers I know have a greater net worth than KT. My neighbors are worth more than this scumbag, folks!!

Might as well compare the Grand Canyon to a crack in the sidewalk!!! Seriously, that's how far off the comparison is.

FYI, here is the Forbes 400 List: http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/54/biz_06rich400_The-400-Richest-Americans_NameProper_15.html

the problem here is people are missing the point because a pool forum is the most biased place you could ever possibly discuss the subject of KT (jewett the scientist HAS to agree with that at least). you guys are all very biased and thats ok, i understand. I knew that from the start, but just wish people would realize he's really not all that bad when compared to the modern day successful businessmen (which, believe me, i hate them all). i really just want people to start seeing these businessmen for what they are and maybe one day we'll have fewer of them (the scumbag ones i mean).

von, please dont confuse what i was saying, not that he has as much money, but that he has attained his money using the same type of tactics, namely lying, manipulating and stealing. if you think about it, it makes sense that the people at the top would have done this becasue they have that edge that has pushed them to be the most successful in a very competitive world, they have just found ways to get away with these tactics. if you ask me who is better johnny cochrane or kt, i mean, take your pick..... to me both manipulating scumbags..... but very successful and respected nonetheless.

Anyway, to quickly and concisely wrap this up:

-kt is no worse that most other very successful businessmen out there becasue they all use the same tactics to get ahead in a very competitive world, and the world tends to admire these people becasue they are successful (but i say they shouldn't)

-so, keep on hating kt, that's what i want.... but hate these other guys just as much, please! becasue they are no better. you think they are becasue you havent been directely screwed, but they are just as bad.

-please try not to use derogatory language when discussing things like this. i assure you i "have a grip." i am actually a highly educated individual and if someone would like to bet on this i will put up whatever you want on it, and then prove it to you (forgive me, but this is the only way i know of to prove myself)

-as pool players you guys are all terribly biased on this subject. im sorry and dont mean to offend but this is a fact. i would really like it if youd stop for a second and not think about what you're going to say to me, but think about what i have said to you, i hope to change your mind so we can all recognize the kt's of the world.

Thanks for listening!!

Your point about business practices today may be valid. But singling out Gates and Trump as scumbags as you did above in this thread is somewhat irresponsible, given that neither of them have even been accused of ethical transgressions comparable to what KT appears to have done based on public records of government investigations.

I'm not a big Microsoft fan, but the "theft" you accuse Gates of involved unpatented intellectual property, and even that movie points out that the windows concept was developed by Xerox-PARC, and was first "stolen" by Steve Jobs. The point the movie was trying to make, IMO, is that business is hardball, and when the computer industry was getting started, the ethical and legal boundaries weren't clearly delineated, it was a bit of a free-for-all. And Trump, as arrogant and boorish as one might find him, hasn't to my knowledge been accused of anything unethical (not that I would know); his big "scandal" involved almost going broke some 10-15 years ago.

As for KT, well, you can read about him on Wikipedia, or on the AZ boards if you want a more angry point of view. Even compared to your everyday semi-corrupt businessman, you cross a line when, say, you start to profit from the false hope of the terminally ill.

Another thing is that most tycoon types do a lot of non-profit philanthropy work. Now, maybe you think it's just a PR stunt, but they still do it. Gates has donated some 30 billion dollars. And the philanthropy thing is especially true for people in self-help or pop-medicine. A lot of people write books that go against the grain of established medicine or psychology, and in almost all cases, the authors have non-profit foundations that generally try to "do good" in ways corresponding to their health advice.

For example, Dr Phil, Deepak Chopra, Anthony Robbins, and (the late) Dr Atkins, all have charitable foundations that are basically in concert with their medical/self help books. Now, I'm not vouching for the validity of what any of them say, I actually haven't read anything by any of these guys except what's on the news or in magazines. And I don't mean to lump them together, except to point out that they really appear to believe that their take on health and well-being can help the world. But I'm not aware of any KT Natural Cures foundation for the betterment of mankind.

There's alot of animosity between Gates and Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, in movies you never can get accurate info on things as they are dramatized and slanted...

Often in this day you have to play hardball and sometimes it's looked at as being a scumbag by the loser...

KT is respected ?!?!?!

Forget 'pool forum bias' for a minute.....just about the only people in any walk of life who show 'respect' to KT are other wannabee scumbags who wish they could be so barefacedly and coldly deceitful as him plus fawning sycophants who want something from him and/or have livelihoods which depend upon the continuation of his scams.

As for comparing his methods of making a profit with those of the likes of Gates and Trump, that is as absurd as comparing a lowlife scumbag feigning sickness who cons his way into an old lady's apartment seeking a glass of water only to steal her purse while she's fetching it, to a brilliant but dishonest accountant who accumulates thousands by illegally syphoning off the odd fractions of a cent from millions of invoices.

Strange, but if memory serves, he was one of the most respected (sic) men in the billiard community a mere 9 months ago.
