Lack of RESPECT

I've been playing with my friends in my basement for a few months now

What do you guys think?

Hmmm.... well..... are your friends, girls?

when you say "playing with my friends"... you mean playing pool, correct?

Given that assumption, here is my take.

Some of the most enjoyable times over the years, has been having some buddies who enjoy pool, get together and have ring games. Drink beers, take some "bud" breaks, and give each other lots of sh1t. Now the only thing we had in the line of respect, was that we would not say anything directly to the shooter while he was in the act of shooting.

We did everything from standing in their line of sight.... "accidently" dropping a house cue at the right moment..... trying to lay down a bet right before they shoot a particular shot...... using the "squeaky chalk" at the right time..... calling a foul on a close hit and watching them get all worked up and then tell them you were joking.... when faced with a fairly easy shot, tell the shooter how you would put it over in that pocket and go 2 rails with lots of reverse english and laugh your ass off as the would either miscue or get way out of line.

That is what made it so much fun. Cheap games, 2 on the 5, 3 on the 9, but over 6 hours or so, someone could make some money. Someone would miss and claim they were sharked (which they probably were) and we would argue about that. Ahhh... I miss that. Hard to find buddies like that, that can take lots of sh1t and give lots of it and come away from it all, as feeling like that had a good time.

It's the Tiger Woods approach. His Dad, from a early age, did everything possible to shark him when he was swinging. It allowed him to focus and shut everything else out. (Except those d@mn camera's I guess)

It may have worked for him, but I'm not saying it worked for any of us.

But it was fun:D

Now don't get me wrong.. I only do that when it's expected by a group of us having fun. Otherwise, I am the perfect opponent, as far as respect and expect the same.

Go to your gun cabinet, pull out the biggest calibre weapon in there...procede back to basement and shoot the Bigmouth of your choice in the face....

There won't be anymore sharking or trash talkin' after that fo sho...then complete your run-out and see if anyone is left to rack for you.

Yep, I think this is the right shot here...

thanks for all the great posts and advise.

Its all in good fun, but its getting old... I usually tool on them like 17-1, 18-2, but their getting better. I guess I'm going to have to make a new house rule.

Anyone talking, sharking, etc while I'm at the table will result in BIH for me:p
LOL

Yea, I had this happen to me on 1 occasion...its really annoying....nothing that a Taser cant cure though

I say Tase them till they get one of them Fake Hollywood tans.....they may just thank you in the morning

Isn't it strange how often OP's leave out little details like this?

Dude, I'd shove m80's down ur shorts at your mid-stroke if u regularly whipped me like this!

Hell man, you're fair game at 17-1!!!

.... The ref rules.... 15 yard penalty, illegal use of whining! :smash:

Yeah that is a flagrant foul. If they weren't sharking him it would probably be 18-0 or 20-0. Those jerks.

Maybe invite some friends over that give you a challenge instead of ones that just boost your ego. Just a suggestion.

:cool:Well what do they expect to beat me on my own table. LOL:smile:

Unless you are a person who likes to retaliate, if so, pull the good ol' Jackass move at the golf court move, everytime they are about to shoot, pull the air horn out and honk it!

If not, there is a great lesson to learn and it is to be mentally focused to block out the unnecessary noises and sharking that is around. I know it is desrespectful. If you feel pretty bad about it, just run it by them and tel/askl them, "Do you mind keeping it down or just not talk while I am at the table shooting, because I have to concentrate and while trying to listen to you guys, I get distracted and is very possible to miss a shot, this is considered sharking if you want to know." Maybe it is communications problem.

I have noticed it a lot of times shooting with a few of my friends, they just don't know anything about etiquette or sharking or any of that sort, all they know is, let me hit it with the "Stick" lol. I mean, standing in your line of sight while they have their cue on their crotch pretending to be jerking it, could be pretty damn distracting lol because it is funny. I take it all in good fun most of the time. I smile and laugh about it, because in the end, that is all you should remember, are the laughters and smiles, it makes life much easier my friend. :)

Lighten up and shoot lights out bro.

Happy shooting! :)

While I agree that it is extremely annoying, learn to use it to your advantage. I assume you aren't playing for money. In which case, you can use their sharking to learn to block out anybody sharking you. A good trait to have!

Very good point!!!

I'd make sure the girl in your avatar was in your basement. Then you buds would stop talking to you and pay attention to her;).

I don't like sharking or trash talk much, even between friends. I like my pool like I like my coffee - free of sharks?! Also hot and black.

If you explain that it really does bug you, and they keep doing it, your friends are dicks. Doesn't mean they can't still be your friends, but you might find a different set of friends to shoot with.

You can do what I have done in the past. Step back from the table and say "I never thought of it that way, show me." Normally they make a ball or two and miss. After the third attempt, they eventually stop.

He is doing you a favor, more distractions you fade in a basement the better you'll fare in the poolroom with the loud music, drunks and skirts all around you. Tell him thanks everytime you run out on him. He will bar you from the basement eventually, LOL

You're just playing by yourself!!

LOL

So you're spotting them some sharking and they win one or two games out of 20? Time to adjust the spot... play one handed, wrong handed, and/or banks to straight ins. If you let 'em shoot you will ALL have more fun! JMO

I agree w/ the sentiment that you are beating the fargin shizzzit out of them, wtf are YOU complaining about!?

And w/ my friends, ask them to take it easy and you will get it worse. Show your beav at your own risk!

I guess I just take the game more seriously then them:eek:

I dish it out too!!! but I have the respect to be quiet when their shooting:cool:

Go to a pool room, get a table next to some strong players, and see what kind of profile your friends keep.

If push comes to shove, it's your house and therefore, pool or not, your house rules.
