Ladies are you offended by this?

We have a ladies club that play most Mondays, it is called " the Mis-Cues", several weeks ago I started calling it the Perfume Mafia,:):) as they take over most of the Pool Room on Mondays afternoons, and when the Snowbirds Return the M.O.M.'s Men on Mondays, maybe we will be SOL, because the ladies group is a Charter Club they can take up the whole Pool room leave no place for the MOM's.

Well a couple of the Mis Cues do not like being refereed as the "Perfume Mafia", but I think it is funny. They have taken control like the real Mafia IMHO.

I kinda know what you mean, Coco...I dropped out of a Fraternal organization I belonged to after the supreme court ruled that women must be allowed as members. No more "members only" room...which really only contained a few pool tables, card tables, and a "men only" john.

It was a refuge I miss to this day.

If someone doesn't like the name and they have gone out of their way to tell you, I'd cut it out.

You might not like the names they start calling you.

I agree. If they don't like, don't do it. And why would you come on here to ask us? To see if you get support?

I don't think it's cool to continue to refer to them by a name they don't like.

JMHO.

good morning

I have a question for the AZ Ladies. The local room where I play has a promotion called Man-Day-Mondays.Does this trouble you at all?I also noticed that most of the time these days when I am at a place on a ladies night the place has few if any female customers. Is "Ladies Night" a tired idea or considered an offence to some women?

I like playing there on Mondays because there it brings in a lot of action (gamblers).Oh yeah and free table time for the guys.

CC ,
Think about it like the Hippocratic oath -"First , do no harm".
Calling a group of developmentally challenged kids "a buncha 'Tards" may seem funny , too , but that don't make it right , and it may hurt their feelings.
Hope those ladies appreciate those nice , fresh GC's - that's one he_ _ of a nice room y'all have.

I wouldn't ever call developmentally challenged kids that. However I do call some others that, and frankly if "those people" don't like it .... screw em their damn tards with no excuses. :grin-square:

akaTrigger....what do you as a woman think these women find offensive, being compared to a well organized criminal organization or the implication that they are stinky? :outtahere:

I can't speak for why they don't like it. Everyone has different reasons for not liking nicknames or whatever.

It bothers them for a reason, though, or else they wouldn't even have said anything to Coco in the first place.

I think they're probably stinky criminal types and Coco better watch his kneecaps! :grin-square:

It is virtually impossible to tell a good joke without a victim. All jokes are based on highlighting, spotlighting or referencing the foibles, differences, oddities or unique attributes of others. This goes for what many consider to be the only "pure humor" -- that is "punning" which highlights the limitations of language and are to some extent the only true "victimless jokes" since language itself is the victim.

Without a victim, all sarcasm, such as Coco's excellent example exemplifies, would dissappear off the face of the earth.

I see Coco's joke as extremely witty, for sure I think it's funny, and is still well short of personally demeaning to any of the "victims" involved.

And, assuming they hear the joke, which they have apparently, it performs the function of calling into question the justice of placing their "social priorities" above the interest of others since to understand the joke the "victims" have to analyze what the jokes supposed to mean in the first place.

Personally, I'd tell them that you and your buddies are females born and trapped in male bodies and that if they are offended by your sexual status (which is certainly no fault of your own) why don't they just call themselves the "Prejudiced Insensitive Beast Club"?

You Go, Boy!!!

.
And like any great joke , it was funny the first time . After that it just gets progressively more annoying.
Also , the greatest source of humor on earth is the "fart" joke , which centers on the fart and not the farter . Ask any 6 year old.

I say whatever. Just don't say it to their face if they really want to get all butthurt by it. Personally, I don't see how anyone could be personally offended by that. You're not calling them the "Fat Cow Club", and it's all in fun.

Coco Cowboy I must agree with Todd on this one.

If they object enough to say something about it ... I would stop.

They just dont think like us men and sometimes we have a very hard time understanding them.
I am sure you will do the right thing.

I think the Perfume Mafia is a cute name, I bet soon some team of Ladies will be playing at the BCAPL, in Sin City called The Perfume Mafia.

We are living in the fuzzy waszie time of Political Correctness IMHO. Sorry I am not buying in the political correctness nonsense, as IMHO it is destroying, and neutering what was once great about this country

But IMHO it is not too late to ignore Political Porrectness for Truth, and the Old American way JMHO.

Sorry, but there is a big difference between showing common courtesy and being politically correct.

When you say "IMHO" you must mean honest opinion and NOT humble opinion because there's not a humble cell in your brain. You don't get to decide what "should" or should not offend others. If it offends then it's wrong.

It's very simple. When people take offense by what you are saying/doing then you should stop it.... unless you are trying to make trouble. If you're trying to make trouble then keep on doing what you are doing.

That is precisely the type of "political correctness" he mentioned. By your own standard what you said could be offensive to him and therefore you should STFU because you are not allowed to have an opinion on what is offensive to him.

Yes....always has been true.

I am offended by the word Issue, that replaced Problem in our society. I also recall when the feminist movement started, opening a door for a lady one day, as I was taught to open a door for a ladys, as I still do today. That day the Feminist called me a Male Chauvinist Pig, but as I said I still open door for ladies.

People in my humble opinion need to learn to laugh at themselves, I do it all the time. Not even Santa Clause can make everyone happy .

Some women just do it and become Carrier Group Commanders, I sure she hear many funny thing on her battle to Rear Admiral.
