Ladies are you offended by this?

I think the Perfume Mafia is a cute name, I bet soon some team of Ladies will be playing at the BCAPL, in Sin City called The Perfume Mafia.

We are living in the fuzzy waszie time of Political Correctness IMHO. Sorry I am not buying in the political correctness nonsense, as IMHO it is destroying, and neutering what was once great about this country

But IMHO it is not too late to ignore Political Porrectness for Truth, and the Old American way JMHO.

This has NOTHING to do with political correctness. It has to do with YOU thinking something is funny, when the people who are being called the name don't like it. Simple as that.

Don't take offense or continue to make fun of them anymore. Just RESPECT their request and stop calling them that.

People in my humble opinion need to learn to laugh at themselves, I do it all the time. Not even Santa Clause can make everyone happy .

Just because you laugh at yourself DOES NOT mean the ladies like the name you are calling them. They may have a deep, personal reason for not liking it. Or, they just don't think it's cute.

This has nothing to do with people laughing at themselves. This now has to with you making fun of them for not liking a name YOU think is cute and funny.

I really hope you aren't still calling them the name they don't like.

You don't get to decide what "should" or should not offend others. If it offends then it's wrong.

It's very simple. When people take offense by what you are saying/doing then you should stop it....

So.......if a person is in a poolhall and sees two players GAMBLING and takes offence to it (and yes, there are many that take offense to gambling) , the two players should cease gambling???

Jim, your statement "If it offends then it's wrong." doesn't hold water. Back in my days working for General Motors, the company came out with a sexual harrasment policy. GM's stance was "If a woman SAYS it was sexual harrasment, then it WAS sexual harrasment." How do you think us men felt, walking around the women on eggshells, afraid that some/any previously harmless comment may get them FIRED? And...what if you had an argument with one of the women there and she decided to claim (falsely) that you sexually harrased her? What are they going to tell you as they are escorting you out the door "Sorry Mr. __________, but she SAID you sexually harrased her." ???

What I'm trying to convey here is that there are some things that offend people that simply SHOULD NOT offend them. If they are offended by harmless things, then they are the type of people that are just too easily offended.

You shouldn't necessarily have to stop doing something because it offends someone that is too easily offended.

But....FWIW, if I were Cocobolo Cowboy, I'd probably just go back to calling them by their real name.

As with all communications, it is never with what is said, or what is meant, but it comes down to was is received.
Even an honest and sincere compliment can be received as an insult.

If anyone of the group of ladies that are being referenced choose to be insulted, then that is what it becomes. (The reason I stated 'choose to be', is we give words power they do not have. That is our choice. If we choose to take away that power of any word. That again, is our choice.)

If anyone of the group of ladies that are being referenced choose to find the humor in the moniker, then it becomes a humorous nickname, as CC is saying it was meant.

Then... take into account, the feelings of those being referred to, about the person who is doing the referring. (how do the ladies in question feel about CC.) That too, will prejudice the opinion on how the moniker is received. This also seems to shows true here in this forum.

All in all.. we are the ones who choose to be insulted by another's choice of words. Regardless of their intent. The world would be so much nicer to live in, if we all learned that lesson, and were to pass it on.

Correct, they do not seem to have a sense of humor

They may have a deep, personal reason for not liking it. Or, they just don't think it's cute.

Yes, they could be stinky or Italian

This has nothing to do with people laughing at themselves. This now has to with you making fun of them for not liking a name YOU think is cute and funny.

Yes, he should stop. They might be Italian.

I really hope you aren't still calling them the name they don't like.

My advice also. Stop calling those tard ladies cute names.

These ladies obviously have no sense of humor so Coco you should try to avoid trouble and not call them "THAT EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE PHRASE".
JMHO < humble, honest and irreverent :killingme:

Don't take offense or continue to make fun of them anymore. Just RESPECT their request and stop calling them that.

Although I think the naming is innocent enough, Trigger's advice above is great advice for any relationship.

Interestingly enough, I was a little surprised to read that an often quoted cause of divorce is excessive teasing.

while i find the term "perfume mafia" harmless and somewhat funny, my wife even chuckled a bit when she heard it if they requested you stop i would honor their request. on a more important note it sounds like to me you may have a more serious problem - loss of table time due to this group. i think i would spend my time trying to reach an agreement with the ladies for Monday table space. JMHO

I think its a cute name. Do they wear perfume? Its a free-ish country and i think that you can say what ever you like. The victims in all of this also have the freedom to say things back. As a woman I wouldnt be offended. Hey, at least you now know that you dont share the same sense of humor as them and should prolly not be freinds or try to mate with them. But really, I wouldnt be offended and think they should lighten up. Maybe they dont like to admit they wear perfume. Who knows!!

Well today was ladies day in Jurassic Park, about 50 show up to play with the Mis Cues. I hung a little sign on Table Two to help them find there way to their end of the Room, as the Mius Cues being a Charter Club can take all 29 Tables, but the Snow Bids have not come back for winter.

Most thought the sign was a Big Boke, got a laugh. But you have to realize these ladies are from my generation, we grew up with WW-II, the Korean War, Viet Nam, and it America that was not P.C.

We have a ladies club that play most Mondays, it is called " the Mis-Cues", several weeks ago I started calling it the Perfume Mafia,:):) as they take over most of the Pool Room on Mondays afternoons, and when the Snowbirds Return the M.O.M.'s Men on Mondays, maybe we will be SOL, because the ladies group is a Charter Club they can take up the whole Pool room leave no place for the MOM's.

Well a couple of the Mis Cues do not like being refereed as the "Perfume Mafia", but I think it is funny. They have taken control like the real Mafia IMHO.

F*ck 'em if they can't take a joke!!!!!! that's the way i feel about everyone who can't take a joke

or if they'll let you:eek::eek::eek:lol

for real
