Ladies of AZ?? Where are you?

imo it only really effects the break and the safety play leading up to the first open shot

So I played some 10 ball on the 8' last night, because theres a 10 ball tourney today and I figured that I would practice. I guess its not AS hard as I thought. I was playing it about as well as I play 9 ball, minus making a lot less balls on the break for a while until I FINALLY found a break that works well. I may have just had a good night, so I guess time will tell when I switch over.

See....it's not so bad. Good luck to you if you play in the tournament and let us know how it goes!

I posted in the 14.1 forum to see if there were any ladies that played the game....so i figured i would expand my search to here. Curious what games you all play and just thought it would be nice to hear from some of you.

I started off like most people just banging balls around with friends but decided i really wanted to learn the game. 9 ball was my game for a long time but i recently took up 14.1 and i love it!

what about you??

Back in the "old days" (Ok old days for ME when I was still a player) I shot just about every game - there was a lovely 100 year old Brunswick 12' snooker table at the pool hall I used to hang out at and we'd play .25 a point - that was a LOT of fun. 9 ball was my thing though, but I'd dabble in all the disciplines except 3 cushion.

Out of all I really enjoyed one-pocket. For an anal retentive, detail oriented person like myself, it's a wonderful exercise in control. Gotta love A-type personalities lol.

Haven't picked up a cue seriously in years though. While we were in Colorado, I did grab a cue for giggles and shot around after the Pro Am. I didn't suck wind as badly as I thought I would, but I'd embarass myself from here to the moon if I even hinted at trying to play again seriously.

25 years since I walked into my first pool hall - where has the time gone?

Practice hard, play harder!

That's it, I am dragging you out to play when I get there! ;)

LOL I refuse to embarass myself in front of anyone!

I will, however, show you one of my prize possessions- a very old Tad cue I picked up years ago. Brazilian rosewood, silver trim, inlay - classic Tad.

My favorite playing cue was, is and always will be the custom cue Bert Shrager made for me years ago - purpleheart, ebony, ivory & silver with my nicname in ivory inlaid "Annie Oakley". A beautiful cue by a wonderful oldtimer cue maker.

creepy... Anyway, I haven't made "the switch" to 10 ball yet, because I'm not ready to suck at pool again, lol

Lol!!!! To the convo you and bartram had the last few posts.... key words I found hillarious 1. Are you following me. 2 stalking. 3. Creepy. 4 I can't help myself. 5. I heard about you. I want to make this convo my sig line.

I love to play 8ball or 9ball. As far as the rest are concerned, I've never played.

I prefer 8 ball, but I keep promising myself I'm going to learn 1p, because I think that the challenge of thought will be wonderful for my 8 ball game. I'd also like to learn 3c, but that's a little ways down the road for me. For now, I watch 1p and 3c. When I'm ready, I'll play.

ok, I'll chime in here. Straight pool is my favorite.... I can't get enough of it. I play in a league here in New Hampshire. I think it is the most rewarding game of all. If you play to 150 atleast you know you pocketed 150 balls. (can't say that for the game of 9-ball). And breaking the rack open always feels good!!! : )

Hi Heather, I would like to think I play it well.. : ) My high run is 32. I achieved that last year in my straight pool league, but I only did that once. Other than that I've gotten into the twenties more than a few times. Keep working on the 15th ball. It feels good to bust it open and have a shot....

you look into getting that grady mathews video i mentioned? key balls and break shots!!!!!! no joke it's a great instructional and it's very well made

Here's some completely unsolicited advice and random thoughts. In a pool hall, unsolicited advice often is unwelcome, so, skipping this post might be for the best.

I applaud the video. It shows us where you're at. I like where you're at.

I like your stick speed. Your stick speed alone (as well as your pocketing) tells me you're game is going to skyrocket. One lesson with a qualified instructor might do wonders. You look like you have all the right tools.

Check out Courtney Peters' and Donny Mills' respective avatars. That's how low players are getting for good ball sighting. Even tall players. You're still a bit high.

Your head raises 2-3" on every shot.

I didn't see you attempt a draw shot.
