I called the right number today, Mike promptly picked up and answered all my questions. He definitely IS one of the good guys.

I've had several transactions with Mike, and even though
he sometimes is tough to reach on the phone, he has always
responded. I found that calling a little after 4pm EST
works best.

He has always treated me well.

awesome perhaps i called wrong number over years. Never did have any luck getting hold of him. Great news!
 
Does he have a new partner? I saw the company listed as Lambros and Hammerbach when researching his work.
 
He's most likely retiring.... He's moving south. He left his only employee go ( very good friend of mine) and he's heading south very soon. Makes me wish I would have kept mine

Mike has NOT said he is retiring as of now. He IS working by himself and will make fewer cues because of this.

Since Mike is nearing retirement age he may decide at some point to stop making cues. Again, he has not said he is ready to retire now. I talk with him regularly and feel fortunate to call Mike a friend and business associate. His cues are consistently among the very best.
 
That's fine ,, you must have no problem settling for less

It's not just about what's best or not, all that's subjective anyway.
But my problem with people who don't reply to my requests, yes I know
the op was dialing the wrong area code, is that if it's this hard to get a
hold of them for a potential big sale just imagine what it's gonna be like
for any repair work.....let alone warranty work.

That and the principal of the matter. I don't like to be dragged around by anyone.
Don't care if it's a cue maker, guitar maker, gun maker... or a woman......lol

I'm not targeting Lambros at all. I'm speaking in general terms.

When anyone doesn't respond I go somewhere else.
Settling for less is not a factor in this.
There are PLENTY of top cue makers who reply to my emails and phone calls within a day or two.

I'm with you and it's why I bought my lambros on the secondary market. I know what more then one friend went through with not just lambros but many cue makers and wasn't interested in dealing with the stress, many cue makers (not all) act like they're doing you a favor making you a cue and I won't tolerate it.

It would mean something if the person who continues to build that brand has the same standards as Mike . He can then change the name if he wants.
Kinda like James White after Paul Mottey .
Since Mike has not announced he is retiring, then everything else is hearsay about that .
Now that he's a one-man operation, I think he's better off not picking up the phone for new orders . Anything he makes gets sold anyway.

To all: I am not retireing in the near future. But I am 66 and who can say what the future holds. As of today my health is fine, and my desire to make cues still burns in me.
As a one man shop there will be a delay in deliveries. This will affect dealers more than individual customers. Also the quality of each cue will be in my control. As it always was, but now, I will once again, build each cue from start to finish.
Since my lady is from Nashville, Tn. we were lookiing into relocating to that area. The cost of relocated and associated down time of approx. 9m-1yr. was unacceptable.
So we have decided to stay put.
Since this was a confidential business decision I must say that I am very disappointed with Trob's friend!

Glad you are setting the record straight. By the way, I love my cross cue you made me last year.

I'm not gonna bother reading all the nasty posts lol mike if I was wrong I'm sorry. I hope you continue to make your amazing cues for a long time to come. Your a true innovator and losing you would be a blow to the industry.
