Lambros Cues

So I broke down and bought a lambros today, Should have it in a couple days. Nothing fancy but have always wanted one. Presently play with a Josey. Can the peeps out in az land tell me what I'm getting into? It has the ultra joint and a couple of ld shafts. I presently play with a Josey with Z2 shafts. thanks much !
 
Well,the combo you have now seems pretty good,but I know its nice to try
new things.The problem with your choice is,Lambros cues hit very nice
but the deflection will be a lot more than your Z-2 shaft.

Mikes regular shafts play a lot better than his LD shafts and feel better as well.
The Ultra-joint is nice and the feel of his cues are nice but I have a feeling
you will end up going back to what you already have.Goodluck
 
Ultra Joint is amazing. Im not much for LD shafts. My Lambros has a standard shaft. The feel on it is awesome though.

Nothing wrong with Josey's either. Another great hitting cue. My father had one and had a timeless timber shaft made for it. Cue was the nuts.

My Lambros with the new ultimate joint and regular (non-ld) shaft has less deflection than anything out there and feels like a dream. It feels literally like zero deflection.

Then I suppose the Lambros LD shaft must have negative deflection:):):)
 
I have a Lambros, with Lambros both solid maple shaft and laminated shaft. I prefer the solid maple. that's not to say the laminate shaft plays bad. I think, IMO, there is a misconception about his laminated shafts. I don't think they are meant to be a LD, rather the laminations make for a consistent hit no matter which way the cue is held.
But I have no idea if I am right. best ask Mike. he is easy to talk to and will help you. He is a good guy.

Cute, but no -- the LD shafts are made for the Ultra 1 or 2 joints. The Ultimate (3rd joint option) doesn't require an LD shaft (in fact, I don't think it's an option). A regular maple shoots the CB with as little (or less) deflection than any other LD shaft I've ever played with.

Don't take my word for it - check'r out.
 
What I have seen is if you have Lambros cue and it has his ultra joint, it is an easy turn if you want sell it if you are not happy.

The Lambros cues without it, seem like a much harder time to sell.

I have heard mixed reviews on his cues. But I havent owned one. I'd like to try one out.

I've never understood buying a custom cue and putting a production shaft on it. LD or not.....

I believe the thought behind this is having a cue like no one else, other then the shafts. Custom to a point, looks wise and who the maker is.
I hate playing somewhere and someone else has the same cue as myself. Kinda like showing up with the same clothes.

I have a new Lambros with the Ultimate Joint and two of Mikes new laminated LD shafts, So it is a option with the new Ultimate joint. I think his shafts play better than any predator or OB shaft I have ever tried. And I owned them all ...<< ED

What kind of tips/hardness do you play with on the LD shafts?
 
I was using predator shafts and OB shafts. Then I bought a 1996 Lambros with his regular shaft and its the best thing i ever did. Cue hits great and there was no adjustment going to mike's shafts. He's a master at cuemaking and has spent a lot of time perfecting his craft even though he was pretty good at it in the beginning. You will not be sorry you bought a Lambros. Going to be buying a brand new one myself soon.

So you found that there was no difference in deflection with the stock Lambros shaft and the z2?

I am interested in picking up a Lambros cue but I currently play with a z2.

No, I used ld shafts for years till i got this lambros and i didn't have any adjustment period.
 
Ultra vs ultimate

Can someone confirm the difference between the ultra joint and the ultimate joint?

I'll post an update next week when I get mine. I presently play with a Z2 so it will be interesting to see the difference. Although the shafts I'm getting with the lambros are supposedly ld shafts.
