Larry Nevel breaks like a cannon

I tried kicking with my right leg, to improve my break.

I slipped and busted my nuts on the corner pocket.

Picked up 2 balls on the first break!

I remember being in a pool room in Madison, WI some 20 years ago, it was nicely peaceful and quite. Then there was this shotgun blast from the corner of the room. A lady let out a screech, everyone in the room stopped and look back. It was Larry, staring at a 3 ball out after the break. (with shape)

Cueball jumping after the break doesn't always mean that the break was powerful or even fast, if you've calculated his break speed back then in this particular time that you posted, it was probably at best 20-22 mph which is the normal speed for breaking the balls maybe even lower at 18 mph in that one particular break, even though the cueball jumped it doesn't mean it was fast or explosive, the balls barely exploded when he broke them.

My break has this type of action that my cueball will jump and explode, but my break isn't even that fast.
you can watch bustumante his break is around 29-30 mph and his cueball doesn't even jump as much as either Evgeny or Nevel.

wow...hard to believe that break was only 18-22 mph.

Played Larry once in a mini tournament. He broke and made 4 balls, but the cue ball flew off the table. Race to 4, and he made at least two balls each of his breaks.

Sound like dynamite.

That's not just losing your cueball, that's launching your cueball into orbit!

Lol I've done that a few times. Once breaking a 9 ball rack on a 9 footer the cueball shot straight up at a 90 degree angle from the table and busted a light bulb above the table.

Another time I was breaking in a bar 8 ball league and the cue ball hit the head ball and jumped over the rack straight at the bar. It launched at about head height, right towards all the bottles of liquor behind the bar. The owner actually has stuffed animals of football and baseball teams there and the cue actually hit one of them and didn't break anything or kill anyone lol. Honestly I think the head ball was wayyyy lose but I probably jumped the cue into the rack too.

The next year for the league when I went for my first break the owner and everyone told me to hold on and they all got out of the way and held up a tarp from behind the bar to cover all the bottles and catch the cue ball lol.

Larry whacks them real good. I got to see this up close in Vegas in 2007. I thought I hit them pretty hard, having played billiards since age 7 and having thrown the shot put 16m and discus 50m, but Larry had me covered by a few mph.

I guarantee he can hit 28mph+ and with reasonable control.

You can see me attempting some power breaking here to determine if I have reasonable power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW1tsONEI_U

Probably skidded on a beer stain, bounced off some chalk debris, and careened off of the divot on the head spot

In the last year or so I've started breaking 9-ball like Corey Deuel
and have had superb success in how much more I can stay on the
table and have had more consistent runouts than ever.
Everything is controlled and cueball is always in the middle.
PLUS I can break with my play stick which I love anyway, even on
the hard breaks.

Check it:

Deuel breaks like this on 9 ball and almost always pockets a ball.

CB contro, not power is the way to go. Johnnyt

That's exactly right.
Thus the point to my post above.
As I said, I have had more runouts than ever since I started breaking like that.
This chaotic wack the crap out of them and hope for the best thing doesn't work for me. Some people seem to emphasize the actual physical break more than staying on the table.
